BigMommy-I'm right there with you. I have a 4 yr old and she's the reason I'm doing this in the first place! My surgery date is Jan 18th. I don't really have any advice-but I do know how you feel!

Breathe Bigmommy! I call it the emotional roller coaster the proceeds the surgery....just have to put up your hands and shout Woohooo!!



It will be unnerving the next few weeks but it will go by quickly!

I understand all the fears but like Jilly, when it came down to it, I knew I wanted to do this and had worked so hard to get it...so I wasn't as nervous.

The key to success is to follow directions, do EVERYTHING your surgeon and staff tells you to, and you will have a great result like your sister did!

I always say that losing the weight I did was the hardest thing I ever did and yet, to get the health, the ability to run up the stairs, chase my grandson around, get all the confidence I have now.....I would do it 100 times!

She's got tons of great recipes and advice-look on the sidebar under quick links-she has advice for pre-ops, tips, and a list of pantry essentials, including her favorite protein powders. And somewhere on this forum is a list of stuff to get for the first few weeks following surgery. I'll scout around and see if I can find it.

Oh order the sample pack of Unjury protein powders now. That way you can choose the ones you like. Getting a jump on things made me feel more in control.

big M - my goodness! breathe, honey! YES, it's a huge unknown. YES, it's scary. But, please try to stay focused on one day at a time. If you haven't started exercising, start moving. if you aren't drinking 64 oz of water, start tracking it.

i ABSOLUTELY agree with Angela - taking control of one little step at a time will help a lot.

and frankly, i'd be more worried if you WERE NOT nervous. this is a big deal. it's a big operation that will forever change your life, and there's a lot that went into this decision.

And don't trust that because EVERYONE loves it taht you will. I have a big jar of Syntrax Nectar Roadside Lemonade sitting at home because I thought it was horrid.

I had my surgery with a 4 year old at home and it was tough, but survivable. I thought the surgery recovery was ridiculously hard, but that was about a week of hardness and then it's been way easier than I expected since. It was the best decision I ever made. Good luck!

I really appreciate all of the tips and advice. Thank you ladies! I guess I'm really letting my nerves get to me too much. I've talked to my son about the surgery and explained most of it to him. And then I laid in bed last night and envisioned how the surgery will play out in terms of getting the sedative and being out for the surgery. Then I thought about coming out of surgery and how I'll feel and I was happy that I can imagine it all going very smoothly. Juliemarie, have you discussed it with your daughter? And maybe that would help you as well. Just try and put yourself in the situation prior to it happening. I felt much more at ease when I pictured everything that was going to happen and imagining it all happening as planned. I'm putting my trust in God that he wants me to be here to raise my son and that's all I can ask for.

Good luck!! I have just started/restarted 3fc as well and have chosen to do the vertical sleeve. I am excited, but my surgery is 6 months out so I expect I will be nervous when the time comes for me too Does anyone in this thread have experience with the vertical sleeve?
