New and excited!

  • Hello all! After a long time of saying I've been toing to diet and starting for a few days then quitting, I've decided I can't make excuses anymore. I've been fortunate that it's only been effecting me for a couple years, but it has been getting worse and worse. Up until I was about 17 or 18, weight was never an issue. I was a track star in high school, which I can realize now I took for granted that my eating habits didn't hinder me. The fact that I was working out and running upwards of 30 hours a week, so I was able to eat anything I wanted, and nothing bad happened. I definitely took this for granted, and I quickly learned that. Since then, things have gone downhill, and I used to weigh around 175, I am now just over 240. In order to achieve my goal of around 180, I plan on going on a strict diet, mostly focusing on cutting my calories, while getting healthy foods in. I also plan on doing crunches/push-ups daily. Also, I plan on playing racquetball 3-4 times a week, because it's really fun to play, and it's a great exercise! Once I get into shape a bit more, I plan on starting to run again because it really is a great passion of mine!
  • Welcome Berem!

You sound excited and ready to make some changes towards better health. Congrats! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.
  • I can't wait to hear about all of your wonderful progress!
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC.

    Good luck with your goals.

  • Berem! You have a great plan already! I hope it works for you! You are lucky to have a sport you like to do... racquetball is FUN! I just found out I love spinning and I never thought I would like that! It helps to find something you enjoy doing. I would love to be able to run- but don't feel up to that yet! I never had a weight problem until after college too. I was a swimmer in highschool and very active in college... after that it has been pound after pound added! Until 2010!
  • I know what it's like to be athletic and then watch it all melt away. I use to be a Jumper competitor (horses) and now I am frumpy!! Good luck!! I am just starting out myself.
