I think there are some web sites in the messages that may give you the answers you need. I'll try to link to the previous thread:

    Hope this helps.

    Go to FitDay.com.

This site is great; it not only gives you a way of journaling food, but also if you go to the Activities menu you can see your BMR; basal metabolic rate of calories, and then they add your lifestyle calories, and then if you do an activity it puts that in too.

I generally try to eat 1800-1900 calories a day because that is my BMR, I am very heavy at 260 lbs. so that is the amount of calories I need to support life in my body. The rest is optional, and will not affect my health. This is a little complicated writing this but if you go to the site you will see what I mean.

Your other option is to not ever go under 1200 per day which is unhealthy for anybody who is an adult at any weight. This is what my doctor told me.

Shape and Fitness magazines recommend no less than 1500-1600 calories a day. With a balance of carbs, proteins, and a little fat.

Good luck and don't starve yourself, you will lose water weight at first but then your metabolism will slow down if you eat too little and it will be very hard to lose. Also one of the site's moderators should be able to point you in the right direction.

    Good Luck!

  • Hi IML!
If you are relatively active with your exercise, and make sure you are eating a balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables-you should be able to reach 160 no problem eating 1500-1600 calories a day.
If you need any more information-don't hesitate to ask!
