Hey all!

As you know, the weather is getting chilly, and as a result the heat is on.... which means DRY everything-- dry noses, throats, and hands/feet.

My job also involves TONS of handwashing and my little paws are just about peeling off.
Despite applying lotion after each handwash, I still cannot get ahead of the dryness. I've tried Aquaphor, that Gardner's hand cream from Crabtree & Evelyn, and even straight up Vaseline. Nothing works!

What's your favorite/secret remedy??

There was some trial stuff at the counter at Bed Bath and Beyond the last time I was there....I tried it and it worked really well. Now I just need to find time to get over there and buy some!

Have you tried slathering on the Aquaphor and then some cotton gloves before bed? I know it's irritating to sleep with them on (but if you CAN sleep with them on, DO IT!), but even if you can keep the gloves on for a few hours in the evenings, it really works. My husband works construction and his hands crack, break and bleed in the cold weather. The only thing that works is the Aquaphor and some white cotton gloves.

Don't get me wrong, I get a big kick out of my tough husband wearing a pair of white cotton gloves but it's hard to make fun when I see how well it works. Let us know if you find any relief. Good luck! xoxo

Fatpants- my hands get super dry from crafting and I often use Burts Bees lemon butter cuticle cream on my dry hands. It is the only thing that seems to hydrate and not just wash right off for me.

A little goes a long way. I've yet to find anything better for my hands and feet, though some other things run close.

I've tried the burt's bees, alba, etc. but this one is THICK so a little goes a long way and thankfully stays ON.

Putting on and using white cotton socks/gloves on feet/hands helps keep it where it is needed too so you might try that first. Shoot, put socks on hands. Everyone has socks... then you can see if that will do before rushing out to buy something else.

I have tried the Neutrogena stuff too.... I like it, but I think I need to combine it with the glove/sock idea.

I do Aquaphor with gloves or socks too. In fact, I am having a hard time typing right now... I like Vaseline Intensive Rescue Healing Hand Cream too. Not such a fan of other Vaseline lotions though.

Im another for Burts Bees, I use the hand salve though . . . love it.

One winter my thighs got really dry, they cracked and bleed. It was very painful. The only thing that worked, and worked fast was Corn Huskers Heavy Duty Oil-Free Hand Treatment Lotion. It worked AWSOME! the only down fall is the scent, it does not smell nice and girly. But i used this stuff everyday for about 5 days and my legs healed and were very soft. Any time I have any dry skin i use this stuff.

Seems like you've all had success with some form of heavy-duty ointment and gloves.

Looks like I'm going to just have to "sock up" at bedtime. Bring on the Aquaphor!

I swear by the Intensive Therapy from Avon. My dad was a tile setter by trade for many years, and he used this for his hands. ETA: There is also no fragrance, which I really like, it doesn't interfere with my body spray or perfume.

I was actually going to suggest the gloves/socks idea, but I was beaten to it! I don't have a problem with dry hands, but I've put vaseline on my feet with socks before to make them soft and it really works. Good luck.
