My husband and I recently decided to get life insurance. . . now it's time for the physical. Is my weight going to be an issue? The only issues I have are hypothyroid (which is stable at the moment because of meds) and I am anemic sometimes (I take a multivitamin for this that is iron rich). I don't have high blood pressure, heart problems, cholesterol problems, diabetes, etc. The few that I mentioned are the only things that I have issues with. . . I'm really scared they're going to deny me or make my life insurance cost astronomical because of my weight!
not sure, but i think age, whether or not your a tobacco user, and yes sadly weight are all factors in determining life insurance.........sigh
but i'm NOT positive as i am not a licensed agent lol! goodluck!
I only have experience with health insurance. When my husband quit his job to be self employed we had to get our own. I was flat out denied by most of the major companies.
All companies have their own policies and procedures, but I attempted to get life insurance last year and was denied because of my weight. I weighed about 20 lbs less than I do now and like you, I do not suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. When I disscussed my denial with my agent, he said it was strictly because of weight and I would need to lose over 100 lbs to qualify for their company. He suggested a few companies that do not require physicals, but the prices were very high for a small benefit. Well hopefully you will have better luck!!!
