My new face....How long to get used to??

  • Hi everyone.

I have lost 63 lbs. and I think 20 of it was all in my face. Yes, I am almost 47, so my skin is not nearly as resilient as it was in my 20s and 30s. I don't even look like the same person, and I still have over 30 more lbs. to lose.

To anyone who has lost a large amount of weight, how long did it take you to get used to the differences in your face? I don't feel like I look as attractive.
  • There was a phase where I really didn't like my face, but the skin eventually tightened back up, and then it was easy to get used to--it was the face I remember from 10 years ago!

So give it time. Things keep changing for a long time.

Thanks shmead. I'll be honest here, I don't recognize this face from before. I wish I had a memory in my head so that I could relate the way my face looks now to a time in the past.

I have been overweight for quite a while. When I would diet down, I would never hold onto the weight loss long enough to get used to it.

I am actually glad that I am asking these types of questions of myself and others. It tells me that I am looking ahead to maintenance. I never gave maintenance much thought until recently. It was always something that I would get around to eventually.
  • For me, it took a couple of months after reaching my goal weight. At first, I thought my face looked very taught - I definitely looked a lot older. Now, while my face still looks older, I no longer feel like I look sickly.

Now, I can't comment on if I just adjusted to my new face, or if my face filled back out a little. From looking at pictures, I think it was the latter, though.
  • My face has always been as homely as a mud fence. But I don't care. From the neck down, I look Fantastic!
  • I'm having the same issues. I made a thread about here...

...it's not that I'm unhappy about the way I look, I just want to feel like I look healthy. It seems to be the same face I had in my 20s before I started gaining, just with a little more "experience".

    Enjoy the new you!!
