Fat and Carb blocker

  • Has anyone tried the Fat and Carb blocker? How is it supposed to work? I'm leaving town for Thanksgiving and have a wedding the day after that so it was suggested that I buy it, but I don't have money to throw away if it doesn't do anything. There are always so many products thrown at me that I don't know what to buy if anything. I did buy the B6 pills yesterday. Has anyone seen any difference with these? I have problems with fluid retention.
  • No idea about the B6 but I did a trial with Carb Blockers and they did absolutely nothing. Save your money.

Does it work? Well, it does not make me gain big time after eating out. I take it when eating out only, and I may gain 1/2 pound the next day, but nothing drastic, but I do stay on program as best I can when I do eat out.

I have a friend tell me she took it when she ate out and had a glass of wine, and next day stayed the same on scale.

Know this really does not help, but I do take it.

  • I was told that it blocks the equivalent of 1 piece of bread. I take it before going out sometimes, not sure if it really works.
  • Yeah I was told a piece of regular bread and a tablespoon of butter's fat. So it helps, but its not going to give you allowance to pig out and eat wedding cake and not gain....

I take it when I eat out to cover the hidden carbs and fat....like breadcrumbs sprinkled over my kabobs...or butter used to grill my chicken.
  • I don't think it helps much, but when I go off it is usually more than a piece of bread. I won't be purchasing it again.
  • Instead??
I have a bottle of Alli (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000175) left over from a long time back. I have occasionally resorted to taking one of those after a restaurant meal, particularly when I was unsure of the fat content of the food and I had limited OP choices. I haven't taken any of it in months, but I do know that it DOES block a percentage of the fat you eat from being absorbed. So it works, you just have to be careful because there are numerous unpleasant "treatment effects" if you overdo it.
  • Oh no. I've heard about Alli. If it has side effects like that, no thanks.
  • I have never had those side effects from Fat and Carb Blocker.

Yes, I don't get the impression that MRC's fat/carb blocker is terribly similar to ALLI. I took ALLI several years ago and I know the what happens. Not had that with MRC's though.

I have not had any problems with the fat/carb blocker at all! Haven't noticed any different results but I've only taken it when off plan while out of town...
