understanding my struggle

  • Hi guys! I'm a 31 blk female 5'11 and started my lifestyle changed on Nov 12th 2009! At that time I tipped the scales at 300.8 pounds!! I started a 1500 calorie diet and exercising!! By April 2010 I had lost 60 plus pounds. But since then my weight loss has not been consistent! I understand the weight loss plateau so I did everthing to break including but not limited to cutting my calories upping my calories eating maintenance level upping my exercise cutting my exercise cutting carbs cutting back even further on sweets and still nothing!!! Its been so hard for me to adhere to my regime due to no results!! For the last month I have been walking\jogging 3 and half miles with two days of weight training drinking more than enough water which leads me to 7 days until my one year anniversary date!! I gave myself a year to lose 100 pounds and I'm gonna fall short of that! My last weight was two weeks ago where my weight was 230 pounds! This is my first time trying to lose it the right and healthy way and I feel like I failed myself! I appreciate you guys here and really enjoyed your posts! Keep them coming because you never kno how your success or your struggles can inspire someone else! Thanks 3FC for knowing what I was going thru when no one else understood for all my friends and family are a healthy weight but they were supportive!

  • I am also guilty of making goals for myself in the past that I couldn't live up to. NO WAY are you a failure in any way! 70 lbs. in a year? Outstanding! Seriously. You say that you gave yourself 1 year to lose 100 lbs. BUT, when you set that goal did you say to yourself "or what?" In other words, I will lose 100 lbs. in a year OR I will give up and eat my way back up to 300?

    See how silly that sounds? Of course not! Just think of it this way, maybe 1 year from now you will be at goal. Think how great that will feel. The fact that you've stuck with your healthy eating and exercising? I think that you are an inspiration. Give yourself credit and focus on the positives of losing 70lbs. It's also true that people who lose it slower have a higher chance of keeping it off for good. You are doing it the right way, just make your brain believe it!!!

  • 70 lbs in a year is amazing!! I know that it's disappointing to not meet a goal that you set for yourself but really...you lost 70 POUNDS!!! That's a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself!! You'll get to your goal because you're working your program and doing the right things and eventually your body will fall in line and the weight will start dropping again!
