Hi - I'm new too

  • Hi. I'm in my 50's dealing with hormones/ thyroid/ prediabetes and an empty nest. I always used to be able to rely on humor to get me through but it seems to have left the building. I'm not at my "all time high" weight but I do weigh more than I did before I delivered the creatures that have had the nerve to grow up and leave my nest. My husband is still around but frankly he only weighs about 10-15 lbs more than when we got married and is getting on my nerves. And to top it all off, the 9 lbs I spent 3 months losing came back on in 2 weeks. I've lost what little energy I had built up and my sense of humor. Last night I drowned my sorrows in peanut M&Ms. I am fantasizing about Dove Promises milk chocolate pieces (the ones wrapped in foil with little sayings to cheer you up - like I need those to make me buy them?!) Can someone talk my off the chocolate ledge?

I'm with you with the chocolate cravings. I went through a phase where I wanted a piece of dark chocolate very day. The news was filled with all sorts of health info about dark chocolate, so of course I had to have it. I kept it in the freezer because frozen chocolate bothered my sensitive teeth, so I had to pull it from the freezer and take the time for it to come to room temp before I could eat it. Sometimes I put it back But in truth, I just don't care much for dark chocolate. Maybe that's the trick, buy dark instead of milk

    Good luck!
