Admitting to Failure - Do Over

  • Hi there. I have been a member of this site for quite some time. I have also been lurking here for the last month or so.

A little about me, I am almost 41 years old, mother of 2, wife of a US Marine. I had started seriously working out about 2 years ago and had gotten to the best shape I have been in since high school. I was going to the gym with my husband 6 days a week and doing both weight lifting and cardio. I LOVE weight lifting. Well...... I severely injured myself lifting in February and was put on steroids and other meds while trying to do therapy in order to not have to have surgery. In the process of healing, I also put all my weight back on, plus 6 pounds.

This has depressed me greatly and made it that much harder to get motivated again.

Well, this last weekend, I decided to GET OVER MYSELF and get back on the wagon. So here I am. I know it is going to be slow going and I am only currently doing cardio, though I did start Turbo Fire 3 weeks ago and love love love it. But I want to get back in the gym for some serious weight lifting, but know I need to see if I can get through this cardio program before I go back. Some of you may be saying, go and just lift light, but that is my problem, I love lifting heavy and unless I have a partner, I can't seem to stop myself, so for now, it is safer to not even go.

Well, sorry for the long post, I just felt it was time to post something and make myself accountable.

    Thanks for listening (reading really)

  • welcome

and if you know you love doing something, figure out a workaround...like getting a new gym buddy or even just asking another gym member for a spot?
  • Hi! I hope you're healed enough to go back to weight lifting. That's something I need to consider doing. Right now, my weight lifting regimen is really doing advanced Pilates.
  • Hi and welcome back to 3FC.

    Good luck with your goals.

  • Have you ever seen a BodyPump Class? It is lifting a lot of reps mostly with a barbell. I've never done it but it might be something you like.

    Glad you're here!
  • Welcome!!!
