trusting the scale

  • So, this morning, I got on the scale and I was down some more weight. In my head, I was like, "no way, impossible" because I have been doing some extra snacking and not tracking all my calories. I must have gotten on and off the scale 10 times in an hour and each time it said 205.4. Then I made my husband weigh himself and he said it was about right for his weight. I just find it hard to believe that I am down a few more pounds and I have not been diligent with counting calories or exercise this week. I know tomorrow morning I will want to weigh myself to see if it is still the same weight. Do any of you ever feel this way? I am hoping it's not a fluke, but you never know right?
  • Sometimes I go down a bit more when I skip a week of exercise. I don't know if that means I'm not eating enough or if I lose a tiny bit of muscle mass or if it's just a coincidence, but congratulations on your loss!
  • Trust it, I am sure you deserve it. There are times when you know that you should be down and the scale does not budge, then others when you think you will be the same or more and the scale goes down.
  • "Cheating" or being less than diligent usually always catches up with me. From what I understand you body doesn't metabolize food as actual weight gain or weight loss for a few days. So what you're seeing on the scale today is likely what you ate a couple days ago. That said it's also possible you weren't eating enough before and the extra cals have put you in your weight loss sweet spot. Who knows. But continued overeating will eventually turn into weight gain.

That's the one constant we *can* count on!
