Bad Diet Day Trifecta

  • I'm pouting...but here's my stress today.

    I'm dealing with IT Band issues while I run...been doing the stretches and exercises, reduced miles, etc. I only got 20min into my run this morning and couldn't continue.
    Issue #1 - only 250kcals burned this morning vs. 400 that I desire.

    I go to have breakfast and find that there are no eggs. I made a list for DH yesterday, eggs was the only thing he did not get. Grr...
    Issue #2 - planned "high protein low cal" breakfast shot. I ended up with a can of tuna on a low carb tortilla, yuck!

    I am going out with a friend to celebrate her 30th birthday tonight. Nothing crazy but restaurant food nonetheless. Destination, unknown...
    Issue #3 - not able to plan my third meal of the day!!

    I'm feeling stressed out today! This is NOT my first day on the healthful, mindful eating scene...but I AM sort of a control freak and all of these issues are giving me a seizure.

  • I hate days like that! Did you really eat tuna for breakfast???

    Your day will get better. Hopefully your evening destination will be confirmed soon and you can do some online menu research.
  • Eew... Tuna for breakfast. Lol! Maybe there weren't any eggs? Isn't there some recall (see how well I pay attention to the news).

    Have fun tonight with your friend!! Last time I went out, I turned to my sister and said "what should I eat". She said "Southwest chicken wrap, no sour cream" So I turned to the waitress and said "southwest chicken wrap, no olives, no sour cream" It turned out to be VERY tasty and didn't even need sour cream. (And I only ate half!) Sorry... I am rambling. I am in one of those moods today!

  • Yep - tuna for breakfast...can't stomach sweets (like a protein shake or high protein cereal) that early right now.

    The little 4-H gal that I normally buy eggs from just stopped by and dropped off 6 dozen! Coincidence....I think not!

    I guess we are going to the Green Gateau which is a little bistro type place...hopefully lots of vegetarian fare.

  • I did okay last night - had the salmon w/ a salad and a little french onion soup. Only had one bite of the croissant, drank water - had a nice piece of truffle cake for dessert...figured it up and went 300kcal over for the day. Had I skipped the dessert I would have been golden!

    Got my scrambled egg whites for breakfast today - yay!

    Since you went over, will you try to cut those calories out today? Will you exercise more? I'm trying to figure out how to best accommodate days that I go over as I learn more about cc-ing.
  • Yes, my goal would be to try to burn those extra calories today. However, it is good for the psyche sometimes to just let it go! I try to burn 400kcal / day with exercise - so trying to burn 700 today might be pretty tough! I will do my best and just try not to sweat it.

    I just noticed in another post of yours that you have cut down to 1200kcal/day. That is (from a medical standpoint) ROCK BOTTOM for a woman. You might consider consuming a bit more (maybe in a serving of nuts or other filling, nutritious foods) just to keep the fire of your metabolism burning.

  • Thanks, MP! I actually used that calculator last week and didn't printed out the results. I did just now, and it said for extreme weight loss I should be at 1328 calories a day. I could definitely do that- I am really scared about consuming too few calories, especially since I've started running. I actually haven't had a day that I've made it to 1200 yet- I'm hovering in the 1100's. Thank you for the advice!!!

    I went to my doctor yesterday and got her referral to see a nutritionist at the hospital. Hopefully he/she will really be able to help me as well.
  • Sorry you had a stressful time. Personally, this morning I could have gone with tuna fish. I am getting sick of eggs, but we're pinched for $ right now as we're paying off our vacation. Thanks for sharing and reaching out, MP.

    Yesterday was my hubby's 30th bday. Oh boy...did we indulge for 2 meals!! Fortunately I ate low in cals Thurs & will again today. I also got a work out in yesterday and hope to hobble my sore tush to the gym today. Owwwww absolution class from yesterday is torturing me!!

    Your IT Band is a bunch of ligaments that runs from your hip to your knee. Runners and sometimes cyclists can over do a little and get tightness that acts like a sore knee. It takes time and stretching to undo the damage.

    Pinkflower - August is my son's, my DH's, my BFF, and 3 other relatives birthdays. It's like a bonanza of cake! Don't be to hard on yourself - and get your sore tush to the gym.
  • Actually, I love tuna for breakfast...but I like it on eggs! LOL! So that would not have worked. I like to make Frittatas topped with cheddar and tuna. It gets a little crispy under the broiler and I actually think it's a touch sweet.
