cant seem to stay in my carloies.

  • Does anyone know how to figure out how many calories i would need with working out to lose 2-3 pounds a week? when i do 1200 im too hungry
  • a good place to start is multiply your body weight X 10, use that amount and decrease it as you loose weight. so if you weight 180 lbs, multiply 180 X 10 and start at 1800 calories a day
  • 1200 calories isnt much no wonder you are hungry, you could have double those calories and still loose
  • I think 1200 is just too low for you, the average Basal Metabolic Rate for your height and weight on a 30 year old is around 2100 calories alone. That is just what it takes for your body to function, not includeing moving around, going to the store, etc.

When I started CCing again I guess I went about it backwards. I started recording everything I ate, I did not limit myself to a set number of cals a day. I have looked back over the last month and I average between 1400-1600 cals a day. There are days that have been higher and days that are lower. I eat when I am hungry, but I have to record everything I eat. This has helped me to make better choices. Between doing this and exercising almost daily I have lost 3lbs a week on average.
  • Get an account at the Daily Plate, it will recommend your range. I put that I was sedentary and I got 1550 for 2 lb a week loss and 2010 for a 1 lb a week loss. So I try to keep my calories in there.

I starve on a 1200 calorie diet too. I did it back in high school. Ugh.
  • I use nutridiary.com but I hear that thedailyplate.com is better. Either way both will figure out how many calories you need to maintain or lose weight. Also, you can keep track of your exercise so you can increase the calories you eat. If I know I want a cheeseburger, I'm in the gym burning it off =)
    Good Luck!
  • how long have you been dieting down? that plays a role too
