This calorie counter needs some encouragement

  • Ive lost 22 pounds and I feel as if i cant lose anymore which i know isnt true. im getting lazy and never want to eat.
  • Sounds to me like you're bored? Calorie counting can be a drudge, that's a fact. But I think it's worth it.

Maybe grab some beautiful cookbooks and try some new recipes? I subscribe to Cooking Light and try to use at least one or two new recipes a week. Some are hits, some aren't. But they're always interesting!

    Good luck!
  • We all hit a slump sometimes. You can came so far and you can absolutely see yourself to your goals! Just think baby steps, 10 pounds at a time. Maybe you need to change your foods a bit or try zigzagging. Hang in there, the next time you see a loss on the scale should be enough to encourage you to continue

Congrats on the 22 loss so far! Thats fabulous

I agree with the other posters. Sometimes i need to venture out of my comfort zone or so to speak with my usual food. Try out different things/recipe's.

Maybe try different workouts to stay motivated!

Whenever I'm in a slump i will buy a new food journal and some new snazzy motivating stickers...that always helps.

Look at old pictures of yourself when you were heavier and notice the difference!

I hope you feel better soon, we all go through it, just hang in there and you'll find these feelings will pass
  • Hey Breanna. This may sound weird, but I live in Coral Springs half the year and always root for you when I see you post because you're so close to me. So, another congrats on your loss so far!

I try to set rewards for myself to ward off slumps, anything from a manicure to a new scanner, though they happen anyway (like most of July). I see you've set mini goals for yourself already so maybe you're already treating yourself. At 15% I'm going to get a set of filters and I really want them. The delayed gratification can also be a lot of fun, though I did cheat a bit on my 10% goal and bought myself a new camera a few days early.

Anyway, here's hoping your slump ends soon.
  • thats awesome. I always look for people in my area to chat with or work out with. Its give u so much more motivation. I just want to be skinny already i dont want to do any of the work hahaha gosh if only there were magical pills
  • New recipes always rev me up. Or take a look at pics of yourself/ try on some clothes from 22 lbs ago- just think of what another 10 will look like!

I don't know your personal feelings about pre-packaged foods but how about tossing in a few meals that take the "counting" out of calorie counting and just write it down for a few days.
  • i like lean cusine. i eat those for lunch. Im just having a bad couple weeks i guess.
  • Breanna, are you getting enough calories? If you're under a certain number, your body will kick into starvation mode and you will have trouble losing weight. Sounds bizarre, but it's true. Also be sure you're staying hydrated; fatigue is one of the first symptoms of dehydration. If you are eating and drinking enough and you're still feeling ridiculously tired, see your doctor, because you may have thyroid issues, and there is help for that.
  • I'm with LiliK. Sometimes we think we're getting enough we feel full enough, but sometimes as you lower your calories (and particularly if you just don't feel like eating) you may be robbing your body of calories it needs. I've had issues with that.

Beyond that, we all get in those little slumps as some point. Right now my weight is bouncing around the same couple of pounds, I'm just under 30lbs lost which is where it often gets boring and I'm right on the cusp of my low weight but can't get down to/past it, so I'm in a bit of a slump too; I'm still working hard, but feeling a bit down about it all. It's just a matter of pushing through. As long as you stick with it, you'll keep losing. You know that. Just work through this and your motivation will come back.
