Conflicted and surprised because of it!

  • Toward the end of Spring I bought a beautiful pair of black slacks. I love everything about them--the fabric, the fit, the comfort, the way they look--everything.

Well, it's been hot and they're black so I haven't had them on in a couple of weeks. Put them on this morning and they're too big!

Of course, I'm happy that I'm making progress, but I really love these pants! I'm going to head to the store to see if there are any left in a smaller size, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I never, ever thought I'd be even the slightest bit disappointed that I'm getting smaller, but I am.... Has this ever happened to you?

Time for an attitude adjustment and some retail therapy, I'd say.
  • You might take them to a tailor and see if they can be altered.
  • I understand completely! I was stuck at size 16 for so long that when I dropped to size 14 I was more than happy to get rid of the size 16 pants. But I had recently purchased a new pair that I loved. Took them to the tailor and they now fit perfectly!
  • Yes, I have had this happen. I went shopping before I started losing and bought a bunch of clothes, including a beautiful blouse for work that I really loved. The pattern, the style, the fit, the color....I loved it all. I think I got to wear it to work just a half-dozen times before I shrank out of it.

I have hung onto that blouse for a couple of years and just this week put it into a bag for Goodwill. It can't be altered, but I hope that you will try to have your pants altered, because they sound fab.
  • Obvious as it is, I never thought about taking the pants to a tailor! I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!
  • I totally get it. I still miss my favorite pair of khaki pants.... Smooth fabric, could be dressy or casual, great length, great style, Tommy Hilfiger... I outgrew them for a while, and was thrilled when I could get into them again. By the time I reached goal they were so much too big that alteration wasn't an option. I gave them to a coworker and I still feel somewhat panged when I see her wear them.

Definitely try the tailor. Hope it works!
