trying to decide on IP diet

  • Hello everyone...well this is my first time on here and I hope it helps....I’ve been thinking of going on the IP diet for a couple of weeks now. I’m thinking that my husband would have to go on it as well in order to be more successful. I'm just wondering if it will be enough food for him. Do the men have a different plan from the women? I have only been able to read to a couple of posts as I’m at work!! So..is this diet really that good? Is it much different than everything else out there? is it a slow are fast weight loss? Is it very expensive?
I know these are a lot of questions and as mentioned by linden i should real all the posts...but it just is not possible to do that right now....

Your husband doesn't have to follow IP for you to be successful. My partner hasn't and he continues to eat what he wants which includes lots of "carby" things such as bread and beans. You may need to renegotiate what's for dinner, who cooks it, and what foods are in the house.

There are men using IP who post on this board and seem to be very satisfied with how it's working for them.

For your other questions, try to find the time to read the FAQ thread and the Tips for Newbies thread. There's lots of good information there that will answer almost any question you have.
  • I think everyone on this site will attest to the success of IP. Once you get past the first few days it is mostly an easy and exciting journey. As LCW states, there are some men on the forum who are on IP (check out salesgod's ticker!!WTG Dave!!). It may be nice to have a partner on IP with you but it really isn't necessary. I have no one in my life on the diet and it really isn't an issue. For the most part, as you go along on the plan, you find you are just not tempted or triggered by off plan foods. The secret is you have to be committed to get the ball rollling. Once you see the big losses (which happens week by week for most of us) you will be hooked.
Read as much as you can on the board. For inspiration, go over to Life After Phase 1 to see how happy our maintainers are. Check out the Progress Photo thread and look at the weight loss tickers for proof that the plan works. The sticky threads are also full of information about the program.
    Best of luck to you!

I say go for it!! My partner was not dieting until after I started IP and I do the cooking.. it wasn't difficult honestly it wasn't. I wasn't tempted other than maybe the first day or so at most.. I am NOT hungry on IP at all.. Now my bf is on Atkins, he wouldn't try IP he thought it too restrictive. Now he has lost 20 lbs!! (losing faster than me .. UGH.. men for some reason do .. ) My biggest mistake? NOT starting sooner! My doctor approached me about IP a month before I started.. If I would've started sooner I would be so much closer to my goal ! .. Just DO it!
  • Put him on it! I've been on IP for 4 months and I don't get hungry. He'll probably need an extra packet a day for the first few days, and you'll need to check with the coach about how much protein he should be getting.
