popping in

  • I'm relatively new to 3FC, but I just sort of hopped in and started posting without making a real introduction.

I'm Lauree and I'm 27, all too soon enough to be 28. I'm a mother of two, and my kids will be 7 and 6 in the next couple of months. I've done this weight loss thing a few times. I've lost well over 100lbs total, and as annoyed as I am with myself that I never just "finished the job" and maintained, I'm not going to dwell on it. I'm back to it, and am down about 25lbs (weighing in again this weekend) this go 'round.

I'm not on any specific diet or anything, just plain ol' watching calories and exercising daily, although I do tend to keep my carbs low; my body is carb sensitive, so I aim for just some carbs through veggies and some whole grains, and cut out as many simple carbs as possible. It works for me and I know this because it's how I lost all of the weight before. I'm mostly here at 3FC because I have absolutely no support around here. My parents raised me to eat whatever I please, and they don't care much about being fat or not. Even now that my dad is a diagnosed (once diet/pill controlled now insulin dependent) diabetic, he doesn't take very good care of himself and seems annoyed with me when I try to teach him to eat better. My extended family is half thin, never had to worry about their weight and eat whatever they want people or fat and happily eating whatever they please while they gain even more type of people; I can't win around here. Eating right and exericising is considered "silly" and I'm often told I should relax and enjoy life; as if being diagnosed diabetic in ten years and having a heart attack in 20 due to a poor diet and no exercise will be considered enjoying life.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. I'm thoroughly enjoying being part of this community and it's been nice being around people who are/were on the same journey!

  • Welcome. If you haven't already, I suggest you look for a Support Group or Challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated, find one that inspires you or fits your needs, and just post to join.
  • Welcome! Good luck on your journey!
  • Way to take control of your life, that's awesome. And as a married to a thin never gain a pounder I get that it's very hard for people to relate to this journey unless they are on it themselves. It's pretty cool that you can come here and post, vent, ask and no one gets tired of hearing about it.
  • Welcome !!
  • Welcome and good luck!
