So Frustrated!

  • I have been losing weight pretty steadily for awhile now and couldn't be happier with my progress up until now. I keep gaining and losing the same pound! I fluctuate between 189 and 190. I can not figure out what I am doing on to make the weight go back up. The only thing I have changed was I started couch to 5k but you would think that would help with me losing weight not hinder it. I am just so frustrated my goal is to be 186 by August 23 and this may be the first time I do not reach goal or surpass my goal. I am just feeling down in the dumps today. So far this journey has been mostly happiness but now that I have hit a bump in the road I am not giving up but just don't know what to do! ggggrrrrr
  • Just breathe, I know I haven't even started on my weight loss goal but i wasn't always fat so I know that you can't beat yourself up. Take a day, stragetize your weight loss procedures and replan. You can still reach that goal becuase it is very attainable and realistic. You can definitely do it so just embrace today, let it go, reach for the healthy snacks, and start over tomorrow...Hope this helps...

PS. Can you say this back to me cause I can use my own advice right now..."sigh"
  • We'll you've definitely lost a lot of weight already. Perhaps it's time to adjust your calories to what is recommended for your new weight that is if you haven't already. It's certainly not unheard of to plateau for awhile after losing 70 pounds so you should really just try and be proud of what you accomplished already. There is also the possibility that you are putting on some muscle right and your menstrual cycle can also mess things up. Just stick with it.
  • Peacebunny- Thanks! You can do it! I guess I am just frustrated, I normally tell myself exactly what you just said!

Niafabo- I have adjusted my calorie intake to my current weight. I am doing low carb so that is not required but I do it anyways.
  • We all get down but what matters is getting back up and glad I could assist you with a hand up...just joining and talking to you guys already is helping me to get up...so hopefully you and other members here will continue to inspire me to attain my goal.
  • How long have you been fluctuating?
  • Free- about two weeks. I know it hasn't been long but it is still frustrating.
  • PeaceBunny- I am glad you are finding support! Keep at it. It feels amazing every time you reach a goal or make a change and stick with it. Just keep reminding yourself, esp when it gets hard and you want to cheat. Make sure the good sticks in the front of your mind! If you keep the bad in your mind I find it easier to cheat.
  • I am trying to focus on that right now as I repeat this mantra...take walk when I get home and leave uneaten office food (cake, doughnuts) uneaten and at the office but I tell you that it is hard when you're used to doing the opposite and as you said the bad...So I'm focusing on the good, walk, water and relaxation...thanks Fannymae...I needed it that
