  • What are some of the things you guys reward yourselves with? And at what points do you choose?

I definitely want to focus on smaller goals to get to the overall goal, but I'm at a loss of what goals to choose and what to reward myself with that's not food!

    Thanks!
  • Hello, I'm a lurker and I think this is a great question. I'd like to get from ~190 to ~150 lbs and planned on 10-lb mini goals.

What are some nice rewards that aren't too $$?
  • Exercise related stuff is great as rewards, I think! I know I'm extra motivated to work out if I have a new gizmo or gadget to play with.

Some things on my reward list are:
    Yoga mat
    DDR pad
Mini Exercise Bike (probably a MUCH cheaper one though)
    Resistance Bands
    Jump Rope
    Exercise ball

Rather than going by weight though, I decided to go by time. (It can be REALLY frustrating to be doing everything right, yet you can't get down to that magical number.) So instead, I decided that every 60 days I stay on track (with no more than 4 "Oops" days), I get a reward.

I also love the idea that a lot of women do here, where their rewards relate to their beauty (pedicures and things like that). I think it's a fantastic idea as most of us need that self esteem boost and need to appreciate our appearance for a moment. I might switch over to doing that too down the line.
  • My "mini goals" was always a new outfit in my new size. My "ultimate goal" was love, I let it in...
  • I got a new tattoo at my half way mark. And I already have one picked out for when I get to goal.
  • My goals and rewards are in my signature. I had a hard time coming up with stuff too. I wanted to do something fun or something I never do/have never done.
  • I gave myself little rewards for every 5kg I lost which is about 11lbs.

At 5kg I got a hair cut and style, 10kg I got my hair dyed, and 15kg I was supposed to get a manicure but am running very low on funds so that may have to wait.
  • I think it depends on funds, really.
Manicures and pedicures are popular. Clothes are always nice. I think some ladies have charm bracelets that they buy a new charm for every mini-goal. You could always just buy things you like: a new book, a piece of artwork for a bare wall, cute shoes
  • My mini goals are kind of mile stones, but are usually in 10 lb or less increments. I like to do stuff for myself that I haven't done, either because I didn't think I deserved it before, or because I just didn't see the point because I was so unhappy with myself.

I like things such as a mani/pedi, crest white strips, new undies, a pair of earrings (nothing spendy at all usually from target or walmart), a new shirt, a new bra, time set aside for ME all alone, a bigger one that I haven't done yet would be a massage, basically anything to make me feel GOOD that is not at all food related!
  • i'm getting jeoffrey campbell boots when i hit 160.. i'm so stoked!

they're pricey, but i'm so worth it.
  • clothes...seriously cause for every 15 pounds something will fall off. i started out with a size 18 pants in March, here in August i went back down to a 16..
i dont give myself mini rewards i should have been maybe then i wouldnt have fouled things up and put back on a few pounds
  • When I lost my first 10 pounds I did a 'home' pedicure. When I get half way there I want to get some kind of fine jewelry because I don't really have any. And my final goal and after maintaining, is possibly a tattoo.
  • Oh I just remembered something... my WW leader was telling us that every week she had a loss she would buy a $5-$10 voucher for her favourite store. Then when she got to goal she had heaps of money to spend there.
  • i'm unemployed, so i do CHEAP stuff...
    -d/l a few songs online
-candle-lit bubble bath listening to frank sinatra (or music of your choice...frankie is my favorite)
-take a sick day and go to the beach/park/museum/etc
-take a day off from my workout routine and go hiking/biking
-go to a dance club with friends (burns calories too!!)
-i haven't done it, but i had a friend who had a "low fat party" when she hit goal where all the guests brought their favorite low fat dish with copies of recipes for everyone

and super simple, but my favorite: skip the housework, curl up in bed and fall asleep early watching a chick flick
  • I haven't really rewarded myself yet, but i plan on buying myself some new clothes once i lose a size or two. I have literally no clothes at the moments, so it will be wonderful for me!
