Can I get some feedback on food choices?

  • Hi Guys,
    I just started doing the Atkins induction yesterday. I would love some feedback on my choices for yesterday and today.

    Yesterday
    Breakfast:
    2 roll ups with lettuce, turkey, swiss cheese and cream cheese

    Snack:
    Hard boiled egg

    Lunch:
    9 pieces sashimi
    miso soup
    Hijiki (seaweed) in soy sauce (the sauce tasted sugary)

    Snack
    Small piece of grilled chicken with cheese melted on top

    Dinner
    Large salad with lettuce, bacon and gorgonzola cheese, ranch dressing
    2 glasses of white wine (I KNOW, I KNOW but I read that white wine has no/very low carbs).

    Snack
    about 10 pork rinds


    Today:
    Breakfast
    2 roll ups, as yesterday

    Snack
    small beef jerkey
    approx 3 oz. tuna salad with mayo

    Lunch (planned)
    About six oz of chicken with cheese melted on top
    Bell peppers and grape tomatoes

    Snack
    Pork rinds

    Dinner
    Omlette

  • Looks good to me, but on Induction you aren't supposed to have alchohol of any kind. You may want to incorporate more veggies in there--like even some sliced cucumber with your snack.

    I am confused on the vegetable issue. I would like to allow myself unlimited veggies (avoiding carrots, potatoes, corn) but supposedly we are only allowed three cups? Do you think it would really hinder progress to eat more? It would just make me feel like I had more options, and also make me feel like I am eating a bit healthier. I still feel guilty about being able to eat all the fat I want.
  • Tilly - According to my Dr. I need to eat 5 servings of veggies a day. That's 2.5 cups in most veggies. My problem is that there are very few LC veggies I like: Zuchinni, squash, green beans, onions, mushrooms, and beets. I've been known to eat 4 cups of zuchinni a day, but I can't stand Cauliflower. I think it stinks, literally. It smells bad to me and if it smells bad, it tastes bad. What I'd love to be able to eat are beans. Black beans, kidney beans and chickpeas.
  • Go ahead Tilly! I do, I don't say, well there's just these 3 cups and that's it. Better to eat a cucumber than to eat a piece of cake!
