Periods getting irregular again

  • I'm 27 years old. I'm hypothyroid and had insulin resistance. Even if I work out regularly and follow a strict diet I found it almost impossible to loose weight. My doctor prescribed me Metformin 850 mcg for one year and after taking ovral g for three cycles my periods became normal. I lost about 22 pounds after taking metformin for one year.

My periods is suddenly becoming irregular again, my periods is 45 days due. I got my TSH, GTT and Insulin(fasting) levels checked. Here is my test report. Is there anything to worry?

I don't know why my TSH levels have suddenly gone high. I do take Thyrox (50 mcg) without fail everyday. Are my glucose tolerance and insulin levels normal? My weight has suddenly increased as well. I have put on 6 pounds.

  • This is best talked over with doctor.

But looking at it... both TSH and Insulin are in the lab ranges, though the TSH is getting close to out of range if if bumps up a bit more. May want to ask about your med dose.

The GTT looks mostly normal to me. You drank the drink, and early on it caused a bump up, which later came down over time as it was digested.

Here's a comparison. Do you remember how many grams you were given in the drink thing?

Again, I'm not a doctor though.

Hi, I remember it was 75 gms. As for Thyrox I take 50 mcg dose everyday and 100 mcg on Sundays as prescribed by my doctor.

Thank you for the link. Looks like my GTT levels are normal. I got my periods yesterday. *sigh* I was damn worried.
  • Glad you got it!
