Minor victory: I just put away the scale.

  • Greetings loved ones. I'm in the group of people that weighs herself multiple times every day and therefore becomes easily frustrated. It's an obsession. So today I did my weekly weigh-in, and actually put the scale in the bathroom cupboard. Now I can't just hop on it every time I happen to wander over to the bathroom. I plan on doing biweekly weigh-ins to ease myself off it. I'll let you all know if I make it til Monday.

Any other everyday weigh-in people interested in this exercise of self-control?
  • Yes, I use to weigh myself everyday and it has been discouraging lately so I decided 2 days ago to put my scale in another room under a chair so that it wont be so easy to just go in the bathroom and weigh myself and I am trying to do the same thing and only weigh myself every 2 weeks so we will see if I make it I have tried this before and failed miserably so we will see.

    Good Luck!

  • I hear ya! I joined a Calorie Counter Labor Day challenge and set my goal to weigh in just once a week for the same reason. Well right after that my scale broke and I couldn't weigh for more than a week because I decided to order one from Amazon so I would have to wait for it. Guess what lost almost 5 lbs in that time because I wasn't obsessing over the numbers and, truthfully, letting myself slide when I had a satisfactory drop!
Anyway, I am definitely not a 20 something but I saw your post and thought I would share my tale of the scale with you! Have a great day!
  • I weigh myself daily- but only to keep accountable really. Monday is my only official weigh in day. But say during the week I see the numbers creeping up- it helps me realize okay I am either bloated from TOM, I need more water, or I'm eating more than I realize, etc.

I think once I learned to not let the scale dictate my mood I was much more at ease with weighing in.
  • I hear ya. I want to weigh in multiple times a day, which is silly. I put the scale away too. I'm hoping by just putting myself in the right mindset to take care of my body, I won't be disappointed to see realistic weight losses when I do weigh in. I am not going to weigh myself for first 3 weeks and then do it bi-weekly. I've gone 12 days but my size 16 pants are falling down!
  • Me and my Weight Loss Buddy made a pact to only weight ourselves once a week. We just started that yesterday so I can't weigh until Tuesday and it's KILLING ME! I have a routine and weigh every day so this is an eye opener to just how obsessive it can get. I can't believe that it's making me so anxious just to not weigh myself every day. I'm down for the challenge!
