Hi! I'm new. Just wanted to say what an awesome place!

  • Hey there! I stumbled across this site this evening and what a fantastic place. I'm excited to get to know ya'll and take this weight off.

A little bit about me...My name is Alicia. I'm 26 from the Midwest. Growing up I was always the 'big' kid, standing in the back row of school pictures with the boys and still having an inch or two on them. I was an active kid and that continued on into high school where I played volleyball and tennis. I struggled with my weight still during this time and when I graduated and I was a size 18. College stress and late nights didn't help and I gained 75lbs during this time.

Two years ago, I had a health scare. I had a DVT in my right leg. It was caused by a mixture of birth control, bad genes(Factor V) and being overweight. My decreased activity sitting at a desk all day didn't help either. With medication and some changes, I bounced back but had another smaller clot in my calf last fall. After a horrible ordeal with blood thinners, that required me to have two 3 pt transfusions in two months. I was exhausted.

I'm currently at 335 which is my heaviest weight ever and I'm ready for a change. I need to make a change. This is my life.

Just reading the posts on here helps me know I'm not alone and your successes are inspiring. Hope to hear from you all in the coming days/months/years.
