Riding the chubby-go-round again

  • Hi folks! Six years ago I lost over a hundred pounds and managed to keep it off for a while, but I got some injuries which made resistance exercise difficult, and when the weight started creeping on again I got pregnant. I actually did pretty well while pregnant, doing cardio regularly even when I was a week overdue, but once the baby came all bets were off. I ate poorly, carrying the baby around aggravated my back and shoulder problems, and the combination of lack of sleep and other frustrations drove me into depression. In total I gained back about eighty of the 110 I'd lost. My one comfort is that I put on the brakes before I gained it all back with interest. At the beginning of the year I started on a low glycemic index diet and lost about thirty pounds, but fell by the wayside around the beginning of April. Yesterday I stepped on the scale again and was relieved to find I hadn't gained any of it back, but had dropped an additional five pounds since the last weigh in. Even so, I still have another 50+ to go. I'm having a hard time deciding where I want to end up. Last time I got down to 170 and couldn't get below that, but I was very muscular. Now that I no longer can go to the gym (toddler will NOT stay in child care) and still with the injuries I can't lift weights like I used to.
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC.

Hi and welcome, might I suggest just take baby steps and have mini goals and see where you end up. I learned this being here on 3FC. I always thought I'd have to set a goal weight which I have done, but I am also setting mini goals which makes my losing weight seem so much easier to reach. I am unable to go to a gym, lack of funds, so I walk. just a thought. Best of luck to you in reaching all goals that you set. Have a great day.

Thanks, yes I am doing this. My first big mini-goal is that 200 hurdle. I will be celebrating mightily when I get back into Onederland. Then 180, which is the comfortable spot I stayed at for a long time. In the mean time I'm watching the five pound increments. I used to wear a t-shirt to the gym where I tallied the ten pound increments, but five pound tally marks will do me this time.
