There is a weight training forum here that is great, you could ask these questions there and I'm sure you'd get great answers. But in the begining I did only cardio then added some weights in when I was ready. In my personal opinion weights are mandatory because there are so many benefits to incorporating them. You don't have to do a ton, I only strength train 2xs a week, but I can't stress enough what an amazing difference it's made to the shape of my body. Also, muscle burns more cals than fat. If you're worried about loose skin, muscle will take up some of the space left behind by the shinking fat cells. But in the end you should only do what you are comfortable doing and what you feel you can continue doing throughout your weight loss and into maintenance. As you lose you will likely find yourself wanting to challenge yourself to do new activities and you may want to hire a training or something to help you learn how to strength train. Good luck!
