Will this diet work for me?

  • I'm a 20 year old female. At 5'5", I currently weigh 135 lbs. My goal weight is 125 lbs.

I lost 40 lbs on Atkins when I was 16 and have been up and down between 125-145 for the past 4 years. It's time for a change. I want to slim down and tone up the healthy way and change the way I eat so I can keep it off!

Here's a sample day of food I'd like for you to look at:

    BREAKFAST-
1 light fat free strawberry yougurt
1/4 cup berries (strawberries, rasberries, etc)
Small handful of Special K low fat granola cereal
[mixed together like a parfait-type thing]

    LUNCH-
    Sandwich with...
2 pieces of whole wheat bread
1 serving of lean turkey or chicken
1 piece reduced fat provolone cheese
    1 small piece of avocado

    SNACK-
    1 apple or banana
    1 low fat string cheese

    DINNER-
1 serving lean meat (beef, chicken, etc)
1 1/2 cup veggies (broccoli, green beans, etc)

    SNACK (only if still hungry)-
1 serving of fruit OR 1 small baked red potato

It adds up to be between 1240-1410 calories, depending on if I eat that last snack or not.

I also plan on drinking at least 5 bottles (16.9 oz each) of water daily and nothing else. I'm going to do 30-45 minutes of cardio five times a week (either power walking or Tae Bo) along with 100 crunches, some arm workouts with light dumbbells, 60 leg lifts, and 30 squats about 3 times a week.

Does this sound like a decent diet plan? Of course, I won't be eating the same thing every day, but this is just a sample of what I think a normal day would look like.

I'm a very picky eater (not big on veggies, as you can see), and I'm also a very busy nursing student. I really want to lose these last 10 lbs, so I'll take all the help I can get!

    Any responses are greatly appreciated.
  • Mmm, reduced at provologne, i didn't know that existed!

Sounds like you're doing a lot of exercise, so you may or may not find yourself getting hungrier Some people ind that they DON'T lose when eating cals that low and exercising heavily. On the other hand, you're on your last 10 lbs

It sounds balanced! You'll have to try and see! Good luck!
