Has anyone tried zigzagging?

  • Has anyone tried zigzag calories (some high calorie days amidst the lower ones) to try and get themselves out of the plateau. Apparently it tricks your metabolism so you start to lose weight again.

At the moment I am going to stick with my standard calorie counting, but my weight loss is slowing as I go into the final 5 pounds. Also my exams finish in 5 days and it would be nice to have a couple of guilty days whilst still being well-behaved.

So I was wondering if any people had experiences that they wanted to share, and whether it had worked for them?

    D xx
  • I'm actually doing that now because I've plateaued for a few weeks and I, too, have exams coming up!! I'm now going lower because I just didn't feel like I was going fast enough at my current point (my goal is to be back down to 130 at LEAST by September, if not even lower). It's worked It also helps to include variety -- when I crave sweets (coming from the girl who used to eat half a loaf of italian bread at sunday dinner), I either go for any of the Jell-O puddings or Weight Watchers/Skinny Cow ice creams. It's really just variety, too. If you want something you can seemingly binge on during finals, go with Watermelon! According to all of the websites I've looked at, an ounce of it is about 5 calories -- the bulk fills you up and you feel like you're being so bad, but you're not Same goes for cantaloupe. I hope I helped!
  • yes, it can help you get off a plateau. I did it for a while, but try not to over do it too much on the high calorie days!
  • Yes, it's how I recently lost the surprising winter pudge. I agree with maenad, it takes a lot of watching out on the higher count days.

I'm starting another round of zigzag.
