there was a link just for the protein requirements but these sites will give you some idea of the minimum requirements. the hussmans is geared for those that lift weights and he is not high protein activists they are low fat people!!
lert me go back and find the link i think it was a dr coop link never the less!!!

Jiff posted this one a few months ago http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...hlight=protein

    http://www.hononline.com/index.htm?n...nutrition.html

    http://www.ifafitness.com/book1/i-nutrition.html

    http://www.hussman.org/fitness/bmrcalc.htm

there is one that specifically explains the boys requirement. but let me figure it out there is a formula for depending on your bodyrs lean mass that will let you know the min requirement.

    well after that morning everyone!!

welcome the newgirls that i have been missing

i did read back but CRS or CRAFT has set in. it hit hard last night when i was in open house for the boys. i was trying to hold a conversation and could not remember what i was talking about!! OMG how embarassing!!

  • Well I guess you have to wake up early to bet Sue in here,
School picture day for the kids and I think a day off from the gym for me. I say that now, but I have my bag packed for later. Coffee at Starbucks after I drop off the kids, and then back to help with pictures.
I didn’t sleep well last night. I am sure it will come to bite me in the butt later. I was up late sinking DH's old palm pilot to become my very own and working on an invitation I need done later today. I have to get it aproved before I can do the final printing.
I did get to see my new cousin yesterday. The family lives in Africa, about to relocate to Johannesburg, so they came home for a little visit. What a chunka Monkey!

Well I am going to go get dressed and get the kidletts up. Have a great day and remember to smile, people will wonder what you are up to.

  • Happy Hump Day!

It's a busy day here. After work I have to pack more clothes for Goodwill, feed the boys, and take them to soccer practice. Bring them home and give them hair cuts, bath, homework, reading, and flash cards! Dh has to go to the cub scout recruitment meeting. But we are getting some rain, so that may all change!

We bought Monsters inc yesterday. It is a great film. Enjoyable for both parents and kids. The dvd came in a set, the movie and an extra with music, games and out-takes. And we only paid $14.97!

Sue, I missed part of my exercise today, hate it. I did my weight training, but missed my cardio workout because all the machines were busy, and I cannot wait around when I have to be to work at 6:30.

L, Have fun with school pictures. Ours are not until the beginning of October. I have my Starbucks at my desk, yum!

Kel, Bryan's still in baseball! WOW, he must be doing great. Nice to see your post. Glad your dm is holding her own.

Hi to all those to follow!
  • Good Morning!

Busy this morning with grocery shop to do and I am stopping off at my friend's house with a bag of clothes for her wee one, Raina, who is jut 6 months old. I feel so bad for my friend Karen, they have serious money problems (due to her dh )and they have sold their house and are moving into a rental unit. She has almost no money for food, she denies herself food to feed her kids. Her husband is a selfish *&^%$#--they are in this mess because he went out and LEASED a brand new Volkswagon Beetle with all the bells and whistles! Grrrrr.....Any man that chooses a car over feeding his wife is absolutely worth leaving. I would never say that to her because I know she loves him, but I'm telling you, if my dh ever did that, divorce city baby and I certainly would not be giving up my house! So some well loved clothes are going her way. She even sold the baby crib to buy a snowsuit for the baby!

L, my picture day for Miree is next week. I've got a cutie blue sweater type top and black pants--I can't wait to get the pics back!

Sue, hope you have a great morning--and who ever said that housework isn't exercise?? Not according to fitday!

Have a good one all those to come!

You snuck in there Jenny, hope you have a great day too!
  • Good Morning everyone!

Gads! Whose got that coffee? I need gallons of it (ok, I'll keep it to 2 cups - after all, according to Atkins I should be caffeine-free but never can get that far!!!)..... last night was soooooo fabulous I am one great big happy camper today! (also with NOOOOOO voice ;0 )Since absolutely forever, I have been dying to see Neil Diamond in concert....... well, last night it finally happened! My good good friend was able to get us tickets (so okay, they cost a fortune and were still in the nosebleed section -- whattheheck! we were there!!!) The man can still sing and bring down a house of 15000+ people....... it was the absolute shortest 2-1/4 hours I have ever spend in my whole life -- NO INTERMISSION, either!

Sue -- I know what you mean about forgetting what you were talking about...... it happens to me a lot lately! Notice how short my posts have been??? Fortunately, you can't see how red my face gets!

Shoot...... Pooky and Jenny, you snuck right in there on me! Hope you both have great ones too! Pooky, I'm with you about your friend's dh..... what a sh##! You're a good friend, and it sounds like she really needs you now!

L - I don't think any of us can get up early enough to beat Sue in here, not since this new job of hers! Hope you have an easy day today.... maybe a doubleshot of espresso in your Starbucks today will help!

Shoot, I know I'm forgetting some replies, more CRAFT here! Oh well everyone, have a good one............
  • It really IS Wednesday already? Oh no! I had so many plans of stuff to get done this week and am not getting there fast enough. I don't know why we do this to ourselves - I'm sure my pal LindaW won't give a hoot if the new shelf paper is not in the drawers in the kitchen! It's just that I am in fall cleaning mode and know that I won't be able to do anything for a while after next week's wrist operation. Matter of fact I won't be back to "full functionality" until the end of November. Maybe I should cancel the left wrist until January? December is a bit tardy to be starting fall housecleaning.

Yesterday I made a huge pot of Soupe au Pistou - a sort of Minestrone - to freeze and also did yet more pears! I am nuts! However jars of preserves are so handy as thank you gifts or hostess gifts. Kind of heavy on the pears this year, however. I am so glad the last of the lot went rotten and got pitched. My frugal Grandma rolled over in her grave, I'm sure.

Still no word on Hershey being ready to breed. She is probably enjoying her respite from Lucy the Canine Terrorist. Lucy and I have been going for walks this week - seems to calm her down incredibly. Now if I could just get the mats out of her fur and get Lin to give her a show cut, life would be perfect.

Clothes to Goodwill? Thanks for the reminder DonDar - I have some summer clothes that I never wore this year but I guess I'll save them to take to GW in March.

Pooky, my heart aches for your friend. What a selfish SOB her SH is! I'm glad you can give her some support.

L144S, I just went through some pictures and realize that I have a complete collection of school pics for both my kids - not to mention of dogs graduating from obedience training. I must get them organized into an album one of these days.

Sue, you are such a ball of energy! And I agree with the others, housework IS exercise. I imagine you go at it hard and fast. What was the result of the meeting about your monster cat?

Well, DH just told me that our new grass guy is coming shortly and he needs me to give him some direction. I want him to weed whip one of my veggie plots but need to pick the last of the tomatoes and basil before he does so! Yikes! Maybe I'll just use police tape to rope off some forbidden areas, cross my fingers and hope that this new guy has a higher IQ that Numb Nuts Neighbour Norm!

    Gotta go!
  • Good Morning
Sorry that I have been MIA this week but i was in bed with some kind of virus since Saturday night. Starting to feel better this morning and was missing you guys. I haven't had a chance to read old posts yet.

Sue~~~I'm all for the Boot Camp (see my response on that thread). If I don't stick to just a low Carb diet can I still join?

L~~~ Good luck with the picture day.

DonDar~~I'm gonna need some butt-kicking on this Boot Camp thing. Are you up to it? How do you do your weight training? Upper one day, lower the next? A mix?

Pooky~~~Sorry to hear about your friends problems. It sounds like you are a wonderful friend to have

SamsG~~~I'll bet you had a BLAST at the concert He's wonderful, isn't he?

Ruth~~Take it easy on yourself. Once you get BOTH wrists repaired you will be able to do all the things that you want. It will just be later, rather than sooner, and I'm sure that all your friends and family will understand. We do!!!!

Deb~~Are you loving the rain and cooler weather that we're getting this week? I know that it's not good on the instruments, but it does wonders in the garden.

All to come~~have a wonderful day

  • Happy Humpy Day!
    Good afternoon all!

Hopefully dh will stay gone long enough for me to post!

DH and I had a nice weekend away. We left "issues" here and just hung out together. Nothing fancy, but alone time. I've been running around taking care of doctor visits, eye exams, etc. lately. I should have the results of the lab work by Monday. I've neglected myself for so long that most of it is routine but some tests are thyroid, insulin resistance, hormones, etc.. And to be perfectly honest with my friends here......scheduled for the first consultation with a plastic surgeon. I've finally decided to go for the tummy tuck and liposuction.

Some of dh's issues with me are truly a result of my changes due to my weight and self conciousness. It has affected our intimate relationship as well as my holding back in interacting with others as I feel he's ashamed of me. One of his long time friends (who we hadn't seen for several years-at that time me a size 7) stopped over and said-what happened to you? That's the way I feel everyone is thinking even if not voicing it.

So, after much research and alot of personal referances the surgeon has been selected and appointment made.

That's been keeping me pretty busy combined with the usual craziness in my life.

Has there been any more thought given to planning a month and place for next years big chickie get together? Sure am anxious!

Off to catch up on your posts~have a wonderful day!

    J
  • sure wish i had some pithy comments for everyone, but i don't. reading through everything... well, it's busy-ness and stress and news and all kinds of stuff going on around here. and good luck, toryah, with all those kidlets!!! you're a brave soul!!!!

and janice, you sure have your hands full.. but you have to do what makes YOU happy.

wish i had some interesting news to report. it's been a kind of good news/ bad news day...

the good news: davinci syrups are on sale [half price!!!] at the local barnes and noble starbucks counter [leenie, i went to the one on route 3], so i bought raspberry and hazelnut. sugar free of course.

the bad news: the doc [the little tiny size 2 woman who wears 4-inch heels and now has done a face lift for crying out loud!!!] thinks that i've torn something in my knee. so, i have to take vioxx for a week, hoping that it will heal. and if it doesn't, there will be an MRI. and then, depending on that, maybe surgery. and neither of us wants that.

so, for right now, i'm focusing on babying the knee [no stairs!!! and shorter walks with maggie], taking the vioxx, protein, water. i'll worry about the MRI next week. maybe it won't happen!!!

time for shower. and maybe a pre bedtime nap. or maybe some food??? not as on top of the protein today, but not too bad. my current goal, jennifer, is 80 grams of protein [but it's ok if i go over], and 64 oz of water. yesterday i hit something like 84 oz.

    sleep well, ya'll... love you..
  • I was at an international "hands across the border" pot luck lunch today in Lynden, Wa. A nice bunch of women who do the same kind of charity work as my group in Canada although we're not affiliated except we're both members of the Associated Country Women of the World. I went totally off program and enjoyed every mouthful. Back to square one tomorrow. I asked one of the American ladies where their local health food store was and was able to buy four loaves of Ezekial bread, something that's recommended on Fat Flush Plan in Phase 2 but I couldn't find it anywhere locally. After taking exchange into account I ended up paying $18 Canadian for 4 loaves. Yikes! Luckily with only one slice per day allowed, they will last me a long, long time.

Too late to respond to any posts today. Catch you all tomorrow, I hope.
MamaJ, that's really exciting about the plastic surgery. If I ever get close to my goal, it's one of my dreams to have what they call an "apronectomy". This big belly of mine doesn't have any elasticity anymore after two Caesarian sections (one vertical and one horizontal) and all this fat. Once I lose most of the weight I need to lose, it will be hanging down to my knees like an apron. Who needs that? I'd also love to get my jowls lifted. I'd be doing it for me. DH doesn't give a hoot, probably because he's looked old since his 20s. People used to ask me why I married such an old geezer and he was only 1-1/2 yr older than I. Premature gray hair.
  • Happy "Hump" day everyone!!

But I guess it's hump night now...LOL. I see you girls were busy today. I leave early for work and sometimes it seems almost bedtime before I get done with everything.
Pooky.....That is so sad about your friend, she is lucky to have a friend like you. I often wonder why women stay in relationships like that. God bless her!!

Peachie...Did I pass the baseball question? LOL

Well....Today is day three on "Adkins" and I am proud to report that things are going great. My uniforms for work are so tight on me this school year, I can't wait until they loosen some. Hope to start back walking again soon.

Hope everyone has a great evening and a better tomorrow.

    Your friend....DEB
  • Sue and Jiff, thanks for the protein advice. Do you know if too much protein damages the heart? So far, I don't find anything that says that. I was told that it was damaging in my PM I received, but so many people still think anything low carb is dangerous.

My gosh Jenny, you get the Busy Award! I thought I had a tough day today!

Sil, poor thing! I hope you are feeling better. I guess you lost weight the hard way this week. We have viruses going around at work. I hope I keep clear of it.

Toryah, congrats on the size smaller! Good luck with your job. What a great age to take care of. They do so many cute things and they don't know how to say 'No' yet!

Good news on the cardiologist front, kinda..still no idea what causes my chest pains but he scheduled me for ANOTHER treadmill test, but this time with nuclear dye stuff. I have to exercise like a maniac for two weeks getting back into shape. I did 'remarkably well' last time with stamina and I will be really embarrassed to poop out quickly. I thought I would die last time! He put me on accelerated treadmill because I told him I walked regularly, so they increased my speed and incline double speed. I really hope they don't do that this time, I'll fly off the back of the treadmill and across the room! I'm just happy to be tested and find out my problem.

Oh, so sleepy...So sleepy...not much sleep last night. I have to change my sleeping habits soon. 3-5 a night won't do it anymore.
  • Deb i missed your intro. what school are yougoing to???

good new my car finally passed the inspection. after 700$ and 2 days af a wonderful man doing free welding on my car (I wil give him something when i have some!!) it has cleared!!!

Linda glad that your hands across the boarder went well, and you need a day off every once in a while. (it is the dayS off that throw you in a tizzy)

Jiff sorry to hear about the knee rest and let the dog go in the yard no matter how much she looks at you from her eyelashes!!! you knee means more to her than a few walks!!
