Between 2007 and 2009, I had several blood tests come back as me being "pre-diabetic". On Jan 4 of this year, my (new) doctor told me that I had slipped on over into being a mild diabetic. It broke my heart.
I am freaking thrilled to report that on April 28th I did my latest labs to which I just got the results:
That is fantastic. Diabetes is a scarey disease... I freaked out when I got gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I have luckily stayed below the pre-diabetic blood sugar line since. I am actually too frightened to go take a glucose tolerance test right now, but I am actually eating like I did when I was preg and I never needed insulin or anything then I was able to control it with diet and exercise (pretty mild case and I was over 300 when I got preg). I can completely understand exactly how thrilling it is to be free of it. Keep up the good work!
I had another one today.. I'm currently wearing a size 14 skirt! It's stretchy on the top but I'm still counting it as an awesome NSV considering I started out as a 26/28!
I hope you can share your success with others as I feel a lot of people in our society hear that diagnosis, and think there is nothing they can do to reverse it. I am always of the mind that you can reverse certain illnesses (such as diabetes, etc.), and that you don't have to be on medication forever, not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you can avoid it AND be healthy, then all the more power to you.
