I shopped in plus size stores for years (OK decades). Now I am no longer wearing plus size and all the clothes I see are too revealing for me: spaghetti straps, low cut tops, sleeveless, short skirts. Even the oxford style shirts stop having buttons at the top so you can't close them up! Is there anywhere to find casual clothes that have the coverage of plus size but in misses sizes? Think of a middle aged lady going to a church function and that is what I am looking for.

My suggestion would be a store with a "juniors/missies" and a ladies section. I know Dillard's is set up like this. I know it's pricier, but that is the kind of store that comes to mind, Kohl's also has a wide selection of styles.

I'm an old lady, and I go to lots of church functions. I like to dress conservatively, too.

My solution has been to shop online, almost exclusively. Most stores have sites on the web that I can visit.

May I suggest layering. I have a ample chest so EVERYTHING looks WAY too low cut. I've investing in a ton of camis with adjustable straps to put under other tops to bring up the neck line. A sleeveless top with a shrug or cardigan over it makes a classic look that is much more conservative. For skirts the "suit or Business section should give you the knee length skirts you are looking for. Hope it helps

You should probably look at larger department stores where there is a seperate women's section. You should be able to find plenty of conservative clothes - like Macy's! Places like Old Navy are pretty much out. Even Ross and TJ Maxx have Women's sections with good choices. But you definately have to be choosey and really shop around!

Talbots, Ann Taylor (Ann Taylor Loft is their discount outlet) is good for higher end "work" and nicer casual clothes. Also Coldwater Creek for more casual clothes. They have a lot of flowy skirts, blouses, silky pants and blazers. Kohls has very good prices but the quality can vary. They have several store lines that specialize in more conservative looks.

When our local department store (Dayton's) got bought by Macy's they seemingly dumped a lot of the old favorite classic brands in favor of silly sportswear and juniors brands. And you could no longer find a suit skirt that covered your knees (I work in a conservative place). A lot of people I know are going to J.C. Penneys and Herbergers (Upper Midwest) for those sorts of things now.

Do you have an outlet mall near you? The bigger ones are really worth a day trip, with a couple of friends. They often have the above stores plus Eddie Bauer, Lands' End and similar stores. And the prices are really good.

Do a Google search for "modest clothing for women". I got tons of results when I typed that in the search bar. Good luck!
