  • and i stayed on a whole 7 minutes.

Tomorrow, i'm shooting for 8 minutes.
  • Good for you! For some reason that machine kicks my butt. I have one in my house that I refuse to get on because I can only handle about two minutes.
  • Cool! I look forward to your post tomorrow stating you achieved 8 minutes on the elliptical. You can do it! (And If you are sore, rest a day, and we'll see your post on Friday)
  • Congrats! Before you know it you'll be up to an hour. My only problem w/the elliptical is that my feet get so numb from the lack of movement.
  • Keep at it! When I started i could only do 7 too, that was in January. I am up to almost 40 minutes now at high intensity and high resistance! It's changed my life!!!! Good job keep it up!
  • Great job!

I use to always do the treadmill for about 45 minutes but I tried the elliptical for the first time about 2 weeks ago and...IM HOOKED! It leaves my body feeling great! I started out only able to do about 10 minutes but now I can push myself for 45 minutes. I love it ;-)

Good luck with your 8 minutes!
  • Ooooh, I love me some elliptical! Not as much right now as I have before, since our relationship was put on hold for a while as I had a food affair...

But when I finally got my butt back to the gym for the first time a few days ago, I was on that elliptical and we had a pretty fabulous 30 minute reunion! I used to be able to do an hour... Oops! But I'll be back there soon. I know it.

Congratulations on discovering the wonder of the elliptical... And good luck on your 8 minutes tomorrow! You can do it!!!
  • Just going back and doing it again tomorrow is a victory.
  • i walked 1.44 miles today and then tried to use the elliptical. i only managed about 5 minutes. my legs were just so tired.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays i'm going to an aerobics class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays i'm going to walk and do the elliptical machine.

    That is my new schedule.
  • Great job! Walking and then doing the elliptical is a great workout. Keep up the good work :O)

TY, i'm thinking i should do the elliptical first however.

I personally warm up with a 5-7 minute walk (however long it takes me to get to the fitness center that day) then do the elliptical, then cool down with my walk home. A year ago I'd jump right onto the elliptical and it beat me up. The warm ups really work for me. You'll find your niche and what works for you in no time.

Are you incorporating any sort of stretching after your workouts?
  • Great job! The first time I got on mine I didn't even make 5 minutes before I had to stop.

It will definitely help with soreness. I'll let the experts post advice, and I'm not in a position to give recommendations (I'm not qualified). You can easily start researching on your own and find a set of stretches that work for you. The number one mistake is stretching when your muscles are cold as in just jumping right into stretching without a warmup. So avoid that. You can seriously injure yourself.
