Would love to hear your stories

  • I was reading up on here and read a few post about how it seems like anytime you get on facebook or myspace, EVERYONE IS PREGGO!
I get so jealous bc my husband and i have been trying for 5 plus yrs. and i have been dx with pcos but im currently not taking any meds. has anyone got preg naturally? I just need a little boost.

    thanks everyone.
  • Hi Nikki, I got pregnant on my own. I had to have a hysterectomy soon after, so I figured that God sped things up for me.

I've read a lot of stories here over the years from people that got pregnant after losing down to goal weight, and some that felt like they got there through regular exercise and low-carb/low-glycemic eating, which helped with the hormones. Hang in there. I know it's tough to deal with.
  • We tried for 6 years with no success. Sorry. But after 70lbs of weightloss, a year on metformin we conceived the first round of clomid. We are about to start clomid again in the attempt to get pregnant again (ds is 18 months old).

It does happen naturally for some women but not everyone.

Have you checked out soulcysters? There is some great info over there.
  • Nikki,

I have PCOS. We tried for 7 years to get pregnant. I lost 60 pounds and had been on metformin for 2 years. I finally had a talk with God and said that if He wanted us to have a child, he would be the fertility specialist. 3 months later I was pregnant with our son. He is going to be 7 this year. I had no fertility treatments. Hope this helps
  • I went on Metformin to try to regulate my periods. The best I could get to was 60 ish day cycles. I charted with www.tcoyf.com software. This was useful.

I had tried Clearplan but with such long cycles it wasn't esp helpful.

I happen to have several microscopes, so I tried to look at my saliva for ferning -- which was really neat! But of all-- TCOYF was the most useful. I still use it today to monitor menses.

I decided I'd give it a year before trying out Clomid. I went in, got the prescription for Clomid and was waiting for period to arrive before I started taking it.

I never did because I was pregnant! So other than Met, I never had anything else. I was working out regularly and lost a bit -- maybe 20 lb max, and I was eating a vegetarian diet at that time trying to reduce my hormone load from food.

This FAQ on low tech ways to conceive was helpful too.

    HTH!

  • I see someone mentioned soulcysters. There's also fitcysters. That has a purely diet and exercise approach to PCOS. (Mostly exercise, just so you're aware).
  • My DS#1 was conceived with clomid. We were still in the hospital, when he died. I went on clomid again at my 7 week check up. That's how I conceived my daughter.

After my daughter arrived, I breastfed her and started WW. I had luck (and I'd tried before and never had any luck with it!), but I think the luck stemmed from the fact that nursing was actually keeping my hormones in check. I lost a good bit of weight (279 to 210). Then I lost two grandparents within a few months of each other, toss the holidays in there and I was sitting somewhere in the 220s. And then I got pregnant with my DS #2. So, that's my natural pregnancy.

    Good luck in your journey!
  • Also just wanted to throw in there, even if you don't get pregnant naturally, losing weight will help your response to the infertility drugs. So, either way its a win/win. Good luck to you!
  • Didnt have much of a problem getting pregnant but couldnt keep them and lost 5 at very early stages...
