Night vs. Morning Weights

  • Hey guys,
I just wanted to see what the general consensus was and if this weight "gain" is normal.

In the morning, I weight 196. At night, like 15 minutes ago, I weighed 199.6. I know I didn't gain 3 pounds today! Is this just water weight and "been up all day" weight?
  • It's totally normal, my weight changes from morning to night have been as high as 5 pounds. I weigh every wednesday and last tuesday I was curious and weighed myself before I showered.I was 179.5. I made myself a little depressed because I figured when I weighed in the next day I would have little to no weightloss. The next morning when I weight in I was 175.5 and totally shocked.
  • your weight is normally supposed to vary 2-4 lbs during the day. It's from eating, and walking around and such, which could cause water weight too.
  • My weight can vary a lot during the day. If I weigh myself I only do it right when I wake up and then don't weigh again for the rest of the day.
  • I am AWFUL about weighing multiple times a day. But yeah, 3 lbs of water weight sounds about normal. There is pretty much no way that you have eaten 10500 extra calories.
  • I go to weight watchers, so I always get weighed at the same time. I think that is the best way to see accurate weight lost.
  • Sounds normal to me. I know that inside me there's varying quantities of pee, poo, food that's being digested, water, etc. I'm used to seeing a 3lb range.

    A.
  • It's normal. My weight is usually 3.2 lbs higher right before I go to bed.
  • Its probably food! If you drink your 8 cups of water a day, thats 2L, or 2kg, or 4 pounds on its own!
  • Yep just once in the AM for me!
  • The water you drink and the food you eat all have weight! Your "gain" is just the stuff you put into your body. And, if you weighed right after you drank water, that's just asking for a faux gain haha.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays I weigh myself at around 1 in the afternoon (despite the fact that it always puts me in a bad mood because I'll be up, number wise) because it is the only time I can guarantee having the room to myself (I live in a triple). However, come Sunday morning the mini-woosh is always nice!
  • I always fluctuate at least 2 lbs every day, but I always record my weight in the morning and that seems to be the most effective(and least depressive) way to keep track for me.
