Just wondering if birth control is a good option for those with PCOS and regulating out of whack periods and what kind do you do you take?
I would love to get relief from my serious acne I have all over my neck/chest/back.
I do take it (ortho tri-cyclin lo)...It 100% helps me. When not on it pms makes me murderous, and my periods would come every 3 weeks, and sometimes 2 and sometimes 4...I say it made a great improvement on my life, and I would recommend them!
I have PCOS and had ammenorhea -- no periods at all or scanty ones.
Over the years, I have taken nordette, ovcon 35, mini pill, ortho-cyclen, sprintec.
I prefer monophasic pills (ex: ortho-cyclen) over triphasic (Ortho-tri-cyclen) because I get crazy on tri's and feel cranky evil.
Everyone is different -- check with your general family doc or endocrinoligist to see what will be best for you.
A.
No - I personally found bcp's made me much worse - weight gain, depression, etc.
But some women do find them helpful.
