Hi there, I'm new to this site and relatively new to Overeaters Anonymous (OA).
I joined OA hoping to find the support I need to stick with my plan. OA literature is helpful, but I don't quite know if I fit in, because many of the characteristics of a compulsive overeater as described by OA literature don't apply to me. I don't binge, purge, starve, plan secret rendezvous with food, etc.) but I do have a desire to eat when not hungry, and I eat more quantity than my body calls for.
Any other OAers out there that don't quite fit the typical mold?
Many thanks!

oh totally. I do, especially when I'm bored. If I'm sitting around with nothing to do and there's food around, I just eat. Like, I'll eat a normal amount. Then I'll have more. And then 20 minutes later I'll eat something else. It's not all the time that I have the urge to do that, but I've noticed that it's usually when I don't have plans for the day and I'm feeling bored.
I think we have a thread for OA members - it might be useful to check in there!
I would venture to say that most of us have issues with food, that we're all tackling in our own ways. Look around at the posts here - you're sure to find some that seem familiar. And keep posting! 3FC is an excellent place for support, regardless of whether you fit with OA's mold or not.
Can't wait to get to know you better.
