Peanut Butter Suggestions!!!!! PLEASE!!!

  • Ok this may sound weird but I was never a big peanut butter eater. But lately I have been craving it.....BIG TIME! I used my calculator on the jar I have for the kids (Jiffy) and, gulp, 2 tbs is a whopping 4 points!! I don't think so.

I recently heard about a couple low and no cal PB's, Walden Farms and Better N Peanut Butter? Anyone try these? Thoughts?

  • I think one of those is the one that you mix with water (its a powder). Whichever one that is I have heard good things about at my meetings.
  • I am not a big fan of PB but like to have it once in awhile. Hubby used to eat it by the spoonful. Just so you know where we're coming from when I give my opinion.

I bought a jar of the Better n' PB at Trader Joe's. DH tried it once and did not like it at all. I've eaten it a couple of times and honestly, I would not buy it again. My issue is that I like the natural peanut butters or the ones with very little sugar added. What appeals to me about PB is the nuttiness flavor. I find Better n' PB VERY sweet with an odd taste I don't recognize. I wish they made an unsweetened version; maybe then I'd like it more.
  • Mix it with great nothern beans. Here is a recipe for adapted PBJ but basically you blender 1/3 cup PB with 3/4 cup drained great northern beans and get a peanutty spread with a better calorie profile than PB straight up.

  • My new favorite snacks are Fiber One 90 calorie bars in peanut butter chocolate. I also have been craving peanut butter lately and found this seems to hit the spot. And it's only 1 point!

  • Oh, there was one, but now I can't remember! It might have been the Better 'n Peanut Butter, but when I looked that one up, the jar label was not what I remember. The one I tried had flaxseed in it. Whatever it was, the fat content was lower than regular PB (something like 10 grams) per serving, and the fiber content was higher. I wish I could find my old WW logs from starting in April '08. I used it a lot because I adore PB, but couldn't have it as much as I liked.

If it is the Better 'n PB... Yes, it tastes a little different, and has more the consistency of a "natural" PB than something like JIF or Skippy. But it worked for me. I'll have to take a look at the stores where I could get it before, and post back here when I figure it out.

  • If it had flax, it was probably Naturally More peanut butter...love that stuff!

  • That's it!!! They have an almond butter version, too. I love it. My husband did not like it, but he also doesn't like "natural" peanut butters. He likes his PB smooth, lol.

Yes, I absolutely loved that stuff. I loved that I could have a full 2 Tbsp. for fewer points than what regular national brands cost me. Now that I'm back on WW, I really need to pick some up. I used to be able to find it at our Wal-Mart, but I know they've cut down a lot on their inventory, so we'll see. Another store near here that has some harder-to-find products carried it. That's where I saw the almond butter.

    THANK YOU!!
  • Oh yeah, Naturally More is awesome! Too awesome in fact - I liked it way better than regular PB and ate more than I should. But yes, it is very good stuff!

I don't know if you have a Publix where you are, but I know they carry it.
