Belly Dancing DVDs

  • Anyone else like doing belly dancing DVDs? I have two Veena and Neena DVDs, one Rania, and Belly dancing basics and beyond with Jenna. I find them very relaxing and fun, but I sometimes have trouble doing some of the footwork, because I'm clumsy and uncoordinated. Still, it's very fun, and I highly recommend it... though I'm not sure how many calories it burns.

It's been helping my confidence though, and my husband likes it too.
  • I have one of Veena and Neena's. I was really excited about trying it out; I even got a chain belt with bells at the Renaissance Festival for it However, I just found it didn't excite me enough. I don't know - nothing wrong with it - I just didn't click with it.

Maybe I'll give it a shot again at some point, but I agree with your HR comments - I think it's a better replacement for yoga than for cardio. Just my opinion.

  • I have a Tribal Fusion Bellydance DVD with Rachel Brice, and it's one of my favorites. It gets my heart rate up as much as some cardio DVD's.
  • I'll have to check that one out then.
  • I like the dvds from "World Dance New York." They have tons of bellydance dvds, and you can see clips of most of them on their website:
