Seriously 12 weddings in the next 24 months!

  • So for some reason everyone I know is getting married in the next 24 months. I am part of 6 or 7 weddings at this point and I am trying to manage everything! Can anyone say 27 Dresses! I am the MOH for 4 weddings, so I am managing all of this along with losing weight. I have 2 weddings between now and April 15 which I have come to the conclusion that I will have to look my best without being my best. But my mini goal is set for June 1st, I would like to be down a dress size (from a 16 to a 14) so that I don’t only stand out for being the tall blonde in a sea of dark haired Italians but I also stand out for my stellar body! My overall goal is to have the body I had in HS, I have attached a photo, I was 146lbs, and a size 10. I have also attached a photo from a wedding last april when I was a size 18 and weighed 245lbs. I am hoping that by December of this year I will at least be down to my goal size. Which is totally doable if a dress size is usually about 10lbs lost. It took me 6 years to get where I am and I am trying to undo everything in 24 months. Suggestions and comments are always welcomed but I just needed a place to write out my goals and make them public so that I can be accountable for my future actions.

  • Wow!

I think it would be pretty neat to use pictures of you in the dresses to track your progress. You're going to end up with quite the collection, you might as well get some more mileage out of the deal

Really, you must be a great friend to be in such high demand!
  • Wow, Amanda. That's a lot of weddings. Have fun.

(also, I'm from Bayonne - did you grow up in Hoboken?)
  • Wow! I thought I had it bad with 4 weddings between now and september! I'm having a hard enough time being maid of honour for 1 wedding let alone 4! The expense is already killing me!

I think it will be awesome to judge your progress by the various wedding pictures.
  • Wow, that is A LOT of weddings! And *I* was stressing about the ONE I'm in!

And I have you say, you carry your weight VERY well! You don't look anywhere near 245lbs in that picture. You look gorgeous!
  • thank you all! the expense of everything is that bad, i have good friends who realize that they cant be too demanding on my life.

as my mom always said to me "there are 24 hours in the day, use 20 of them to be productive"

I will take photos using the same dress, Its a lime green dress, that i will hopefully have to have taken in by the time i reach my last wedding!

"stella" i didnt grow up in hoboken but in bergen county
  • LOL, Amber! Could you imagine how stressed I would be if I had to be in all the weddings amandapaige is in?

amandapaige, you are my hero. I've been stressing over my cousin's wedding for months now! Fellow Jersey Girl here, as well. Born, raised and currently living in East Newark (little town sandwiched between Harrison and Kearny). I have been using a dress that I wore when I was chubby to my other cousin's wedding as my reference point. Here's mine: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/mini...own-31-go.html
  • Ugh the wedding is just under a month away...Im ok with NOT making my 145 goal, I can already see a major difference in how my body looks from the start which Im ok with. I just hope to see that bridesmaid dress fit looser since I ordered it a month ago!
  • Can I ask a question. I have to go to a wedding in America the end of May. The dress code is Black Tie Optional. Can anyone tell me what that means exactly?

I fully understand the wedding issues, I have 8 in the next 12 months, 4 of which are in May this year. I am hoping to use the same dress for them all but I think it may not be suitable for the american one, as it is short.

    Thanks for any suggestions.
  • I believe black tie optional means that you should dress nicely, but all-out-prom-type-formal is not necessary.

It means formal dress, but it doesn't have to go to top level formal. You won't be tossed out if you didn't go floor length gown but you best have at least a good cocktail dress on.

    A.
  • oh.my.god.

i couldnt do it, you are a brave brave woman! i think the tracking with the dress is a great idea. try to enjoy things... i guess since yoru friends are understanding about monetary issues, i'm sure some of them will pitch in with the planning, etc
