Any other OP foods? myth vs. reality

  • Hi all,

I just started the beige menu and the list of foods is completely manageable, but when I asked about brown rice, they said "oh yeah, we added that now too" which made me wonder what else - obscure or common - might be missing?

I asked about mango's and she said "probably not" but didn't know for sure or why. So I'm wondering if the list of foods is simplified to be common foods only. Also, when I look in the cookbook, raw onions and wax beans are in the recipes but aren't on the list. Do i just follow the beige menu list? or whats in the cookbook?

Does anyone know of any other foods that are not listed but are allowed? Or why they're not listed? The copyright date on the bottom corner of my menu says May 2008. I just want to make sure I have the latest proper information because my local center has not seemed very organized and well managed so far.

    Thanks!
  • Welcome and good luck! I am also on the beige menu and mine is also dated May 2008. I was told verbally by my consultant that they recently added 2 oz of a baked potato and I forget how much brown rice. I just remember that the portions are so small that I decided to stick with the items on my menu. My best find has been La Tortilla Factory's 50 calorie whole wheat tortilla. It is a nice size and I melt cheese on top for an open quesidilla or make a taco salad. Their cookbook is a good resource as it has many items not listed on your sheet. For example, I didn't know til going through the book that I could also use McCormick low sodium taco seasoning to flavor my meat.
