what should i do?

  • OKay my sons first birthday is coming up on Saturday, were having a few people over and were just gonna order pizza and have cake and ice cream...

Now i have stayed on plan since January 1st, not even screwing up once, but i would like to just enjoy myself at the party and eat the food and spend time with my family.

Do you think this is a bad idea, i dont know why im so worried but i have been going over it in my head the past 2-3 days, i dont know why its this hard!
  • I think its okay to allow yourself to enjoy some of the good stuff on his birthday Just have it in moderation and don't go crazy! So long as your not eating a whole birthday cake or large pizza by yourself, I think you'll be fine!
  • I agree about moderation. Or, I vote for modification.

In that case, I would do one of two things:

    1. Eat a piece of pizza or two, and have a small sliver of cake. I'd also eat a calorie-light breakfast and lunch to make up for the excess calories.

    OR

    2. Make yourself a healthier pizza! A homemade pita-pizza seems like a decent idea. If you're just making it for yourself, and the kids are taken care of with takeout-pizza... might not be too much trouble.
And then, either indulge in a small slice of cake... or find yourself a sweet alternative that you still love. Low-calorie frozen yogurt with blueberries, or Skinny Cow frozen desserts.

Whatever you decide, it'll be fine! Just go back to eating well afterward, and you'll be right back on track, even with a small jump in calories!
  • ^^ OHH I loveeee skinny cow ice cream! Awesome Idea!
  • It's your sons birthday and of course you should celebrate and have some cake. Normal weight people are not people who deny themselves every little pleasure in life...they just don't let one piece of cake turn into two and then three and etc, etc. It's okay to indulge a little bit...and it might even be good for you!
  • I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are worrying I would either go in with a plan (as in, "I'll have one slice of pepperoni and a 5x5 inch square of cake") or choose one to indulge in. If it were me, I wouldn't care too much about the pizza but I'd be all over the cake. I'm sure you won't be the only person there who would like to have some healthy options, so I'd make a big salad with fun toppings (steamed broccoli, chickpeas, avacado...yumyumyum) for everyone's side dish and just stick to that before going in for the frosting.
  • Thanks everyone for the ideas and advice, my son started wheezing today and we took him to the ER, he has RSV so looks like im saved from the worry of what im gonna do.
Plus i woke up today so congested i couldn't even eat, i had 8 points all day because i just didn't feel like eating, guess another week of not worrying about it
