  • Good morning!

I'm listening to reports of the impending snowstorm that's going to come tonight, and it sure sounds dire. Now they're saying another 1-2' of snow.

Jenn, I guess you'll end up with the entire week WFH. I hope your power stays on this time. For cooler foods, I'd buy frozen foods to help keep the other things in the cooler cold. You could store your milk outside in the snow. Let's just hope this next one isn't too bad.

I'm going to head over to Cindy's early to help prepare for the next few days, and I hope to head home before it starts snowing. I probably won't get back over there until Friday this week. The kids sure are enjoying all of this.

    How's everyone faring today?
  • Oh Cottage and the other snow bunnies, I hope you are all going to be safe, warm and generally OK. This is a pretty horrendous storm. My friend Art is driving home from Florida today as his MIL is dying. I suggested he fly home and leave the car there but he's pretty stubborn.

The car and I are off for an oil change just after seven which will get the day off to a good start. I love ticking stuff off my list first thing in the morning! I have the darned Cemetery Board Financial Report printed and ready to pass on because it's Book Club here tonight and that takes precedence over any AGM. Unfortunately I can't resign from the Board as there must be an Anglican on it and none of my Church friends are dumb enough to volunteer. I guess I've whined about it too much.

Back later to see how you all are doing.
  • Hi Linda-Wow! That's absolutely unbelievable! Take care everyone and be safe! We've had snow, but no accumulation. March seems to be our big month.

Good morning Ruth. Enjoy your day-you gave me a good laugh-I think you're stuck on that board I'd definitely not volunteer for that one.

I'm glad to be up early and I'm going to drag the computer in the office for more PW. I'm learning about dog medical issues as I input all these medical files. Pool at 9, then back to WFH.

    Have a great day everyone.
  • Good morning

Wow Cottage - I'm glad this is all missing us but sorry for you. The heavy, wet snow is the worst.

Ruth - your friend makes it north ahead of this thing. Your Board sounds like that committee I'm always trying to get off. No one else will take my spot so I'm stuck unless I develop an irresponsible gene (I think I need one!). Did you tell us what your book club is reading? I love all the book threads even though I never seem to find time to read anymore.

Another uneventful day. Yesterday turned, well, interesting in the afternoon. A new provider I was working with read the regs in a way that said she could have as many kids in her program as she wanted as long as she didn't have more than 6 per caregiver. She has 15 but with her license she can really only have 6 no matter how many adults she has. Made for an interesting conversation. The sad part is she is probably running a great program but she just can't operate it this way. I hope she decides to go for a different license so she continues to operate legally. Unfortunately in VT we have lots of people operating underground and no capacity to enforce the rules.

I have a quiet evening to myself as DW has a Song Circle tonight. I do enjoy my night or two each month. And what fun thing will I do? I get to workout whenever I want. Yes, my life is a bit dull

Speaking of unrelenting excitement - it's time for the Wii! Have a good Tuesday.

ETA - good morning Debbie! Enjoy the pool
  • Good morning!

Wow, Linda.... possibly 2 more FEET of snow? Maybe you ought to move up here to Maine - where we don't seem to get snow anymore!
Be careful today - how soon is the snow supposed to start?

(Jenn, after the last storm I don't think I'll joke around with you about more snow - I'll just wish you electricity, unlocked doors and harmony for this one. )

My dog is going to be just fine! She's got an infected tooth, it's cracked and there is drainage and that's what was causing her cough. (She just saw the vet in October and her teeth were fine then, I don't know how I let this one sneak up on us, now that I know what's going on I do notice that her breath is...er..... not as nice as it should be...) Anyway, when I called the vet last week worried about the dog's cough they said, "Oh oh, at her age and her breed it's probably her heart, we'd better get her in right away..." Another dental surgery seems like no big deal compared to that.

I've got the last of my sugar cookies in the oven now. I ended up with wayyyy more than the 8 dozen I was signed up for so I'm glad about that. I was afraid that my cookie cutter was too big and that I'd have to make an extra batch of dough this morning but I've got nearly 12 dozen. lol I'm not very good at estimation.

Just previewed and I see that Ruth and Debbie are up an at 'em and like me - snow free today. Good morning ladies! And Cyndi, too!

I've got to get out the door now. Enjoy your Tuesday friends, and stay safe!
  • Good morning!

Linda, good luck with the new snow! I can't believe how much you guys are getting. My brother just got his cast off and he desperately wants to go snowboarding but the doc said he has to wait a month. It's killing him!

Ruth, I laughed that your whining may have led to no one else being willing to volunteer for the cemetery board. Maybe you'll get some new members soon and you can talk it up more.

Debbie, I hope you have fun at the pool!

Cyndi, enjoy your free choice workout tonight! I've been too tired the last bunch of nights to get on my Wii. The kids are draining me. I think maybe I have the wrong license, too.

Heidi, I hope your dog's tooth situation is an easy fix. I'm glad it wasn't her heart!

I am sitting here in the middle of the girls' room, surrounded by clothes I've pulled out of their drawers. What a mess! I'm sorting and refolding and then I have to do a good cleaning in here. I've already been through their cradle (where they throw all their toys - and apparently, pajamas, ballet slippers, puzzles, hair ties, and Connor's Legos as well) and now I'm into the drawers. I am ever so glad they don't have a closet in their room!!!

Better get back to it or I won't be able to finish before they get back from school
  • Hi all! Cottage, I hear the snow is supposed to hit us too, but yesterday they said 12-18" and this morning they are down to 6-12". The temperature is supposed to be above freezing anyway so maybe it will just rain - who knows. I can stay home if school is closed but my husband who works for UPS will probably have to go in no matter what the weather.

Ruth and Cindy, sometimes no one else will step up to the plate unless you step down. I learned that the hard way. I once served on the board for my union at an old job and suffered health issues because of the stress. It was only when my dr. offered to put me on medication that I said 'no more.' We all give so much of ourselves already. It is not irresponsible to take care of yourself.

CindyM, I love my nights alone...not too many of them of course, but a few here and there are great.

Not much new here. I don't look forward to the snow, if we do get it. It's nice for a day but the clean up sux and here in the city the snow gets grey (and yellow) fast. This weekend we are due to go up to my parent's house in the country - I hope we can make it. Have a great day everyone.
  • Right now I'm waiting for more snow-10 to 20 inches here in the next couple of days in Northern VA. Um, I have no idea where we are going to take the puppies to go to the bathroom! Bridget already pooped on the carpet last night and Geoffrey hates the snow, but he did manage to make two miniature husky friends across the street the other day. Now he braves climbing up the snow even though he hates it.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get out of work early today!
  • Cottage - Good morning. Drive carefully.

Ruth - I'm sure you told us the book already... but my memory is horrible. What did you read?

Debbie - March? My friend told me spring skiing is almost "warm." The acronyms are just over my head. And I'm too blurry minded to figure them out.

Cyndi - That is a sad story. It is hard to find good childcare. Seems every year there is a preventable death here. BTW - Your life sounds much less dull than mine

Heidi - That struck a chord with me. Our dog died last April after having heart failure. The first symptom was indeed a cough. I'm glad to hear your is only suffering a bad tooth. BTW - I never knew there were actual vet cardiologists! And my son's chinchilla (no also dead) saw a vet ophthalmologist. Crazy!

Kara - Both my teens have walk-in closets... they throw so much in there you can't step a foot inside. Sigh. I suspect DS1's dorm room is not like his room at home.

Mmc - Enjoy your snow. I hope you make it for the weekend.

Annie - Poor dogs! Our neighbors use those pee/poop pads for theirs all the time. Might give them a try.

I'm just dragging today. Nothing else to say. I'm sure I will be back and more cheerful later.

    Happy Tuesday all.
  • Mmckellen, hope the snow passes you by!

Annie, welcome to the chat! Hope you can find a solution for the dogs soon! Could you shovel them a path and clearing?

Karen, chin up, girl! Get some protein in your breakfast and put on some peppy music!
  • cottage, I quit listening to the weather yesterday because they kept upping that total! NWS started at 6", by the time I went to bed last night they were saying 10 - 20". I have no idea what they're saying now and don't want to know. Egads! DD1 starts a new job today and is training right outside the beltway, so I hope she gets to leave early if things get heavy before 5PM. I've got a dentist appt this morning, and I need to check on my grandmother this morning and make sure she's got everything she needs. My mom usually checks in on her every few days, but she's got a 1/4 mile steep uphill driveway and won't be out anytime soon. My brother's been stuck in Boston since the weekend, so I hope he was able to fly in last night.

The cats are going stir crazy, they don't care for the litter box, but won't go out in the snow, and are cranky and starting to hiss and smack each other around.

I heard from DH last night! He called and as I thought hasn't received any of my emails. He said the navy.mil email is hosed up due to all the activity in Haiti. Anyway, good to know he's fine and he was worried how we were making out with all the snow.

Debbie, what kind of work do you do?
Ruth, good luck to your friend, this is a BIG storm he's driving through.
    Cyndi, enjoy your quiet time!
Heidi, more power to you - I would probably eat all the extra cookies.
Good luck with your de-cluttering Kara.
Annie, hope you get out of work early.
Mmc, enjoy your white snow while it's white.
Waisting, I wonder how those pads work for kitties. My older cat is so stubborn, she won't go in the litter box unless it's pristine or I put her in there and stand over her. If she can't go outside, she'd much rather go in the basement, which has a dirt floor. So she is banished from the basement, but she is still always trying to get down there.

Well, I'd better jump in the shower unless I plan to show up stinky at the dentist's office!
  • Good morning chicks!

I've made a little resolution for less time on the 'puter, so I'm skipping personals today.

That woosh decided to go away. SIgh. Keep on truckin' right? I feel a lot better about my eating, so...just keep at it. I was trying to have a few veggie meals, and tonight is vegetarian chili. I sampled it before turning on the crock pot, it tastes great!! Think the DH will notice?

Our forecast keeps changing for snow as well. Last night, they were saying 3-6 inches, this morning they're saying 8-12 inches. At least we only have a 14" base compared to further east that has 24"!!

    Have a great day chickies!
  • I am up 1 pound or so on my home scale, but I am going to go weigh in the morning on my dieticians scale to see where I am compared to where I was in December. I didn't gain my first week of phase 1.5 and I should be AF should be here next week, and I haven't gotten in all my water. I think all of this equates to the gain. I didn't overeat carbs last week, but I thought my bread was 2 slices a serving. It wasn't. So that was 2 servings of bread and some days I had triscuts. So I am going ot be more careful this week to only eat one serving of carb and one serving of fruit and see where I get.

Jenn Hope you can get to the store. Do you have a gas stove or even a gas grill? You could atleast cook things on either one of these. I don't know if the grill will work as well since it would be outside.

Smoodle Glad you heard from dh. It is hard when they are deployed and you odn't get to hear from them as often as you would like. I know it sounds strange but I always felt hubby and I grew closer during deployments because when we talked we really talked not like while he is at home.

Tammy- Sorry about the whoosh disappearing. Let us know how the veggi chilli goes. I think my hubby would notice. He is such a meat and potatoe type guy.

Kara good luck with the girls clothes. COme here and help me declutter. LOL

Karen I am dragging too. Both kids and dogs were up and down all night. Hope you have a cheerful day. Do something for you today.

MMC Have a great day. Hope you don't get too much snow.

Cottage Hope you don't get to much snow. Be careful out there driving.

Ruth I need to make an appt. to get my car serviced too.

Cyndi Ugghh about the childcare issues. It is hard to find good childcare. I have been lucky most of the time. Where my kids go I think there are way too many kids but there are a lot of workers too. It just sometimes feels like a zoo in there.

Debbie Your exercise schedule is so motivating. That is one area I really hate and need to make a better effort to accomplish.

I figured something strange out. I can't just sit and sip water during the day. If I try to just sip I don't drink very much but If I down it then I get more in. I do keep a bottle of water at work.

    Tammie
  • Good morning everyone,

We got 4 inches of snow, all the schools around us closed except for us. I came into work this morning as I have meetings otherwise I would have done wfh. DH is also flying in tonight so I need to pick him up from the airport after work.

Stay safe all of you eastern chickies you are getting so much snow yikes....

    Have a great day everyone
  • Schmoodle, I'm so glad you heard from your husband! Yay!

Tammy, I hope your chili turns out well!

Tammie, good luck at the dietician!

Rose, have a safe trip to get your husband!

I finished the girls' room and now have to fold laundry. Can you tell I'm procrastinating??? We have to leave in a half hour for Connor's martial arts and then he has a basketball game afterward. I'm doing step class while he's at martial arts. Busy busy busy!!!
