Do you have control?

  • While doing Atkins, are your blood sugar levels always in control? Particularly when doing induction, but I'm interested in any experiences, even with OWL and maintenance. Thanks.
  • I am not on Atkins, but I do limit my carbs to less than 60 g per day. When I first started eating low carb and low calorie, my body did go into ketosis. This was intended and I was under medical supervision. My first week of dieting was rough. Not only was I getting used to the new lifestyle, but I was also taking metformin for the first time. Luckily, with diet and exercise alone, I was able to manage my blood glucose and stop taking metformin. If I eat according to plan and get some exercise, I can reliably keep my sugar levels in check.
  • I am on South Beach - which is NOT a low carb plan, by the way. The focus is on healthy fats and carbs.

I do watch my carb intake and balance it with high fibre choices. My BGL is just fine according to my doctor.

Have you read the Atkins Diabetes Revolution book? You may find it of help if you are doing Atkins and also are diabetic.
