question

  • so i know this is a random question but I was takling to my sister yesterday and she said that working out on an exercise bike can reduce you lower tummy.

and this is where i hold alot of weight.

I was just wondering if there is any truth to this.
  • Apparently so according to this article....

  • I've never heard of that before... Although it might be according to the individual since the last time I did the bike I swear my belly got bigger while my legs were slimming a little. The thing that made my belly change? Running. I swear that after I'd been running for about a month, I noticed a significant change.
  • I dont think you can "spot reduce" any area right? Biking definately strengthens low back and probably stomach muscles- when I injured my hip, I had to strengthen these muscles to support it because my hip muscle/s werent coping so great, and my physio had me biking. Same with my mum who has lower back problems. So if you lose fat by biking, and build muscle there by biking, then your lower stomach will probably look better (but other parts of your body will probably as well, because you have lost fat overall).

I say this without reading Amanda's article

Agree with Iconised here. Maybe you could try it for 6 weeks or so, and then see if there is any change in your measurements.
  • I third Ghost. It's not possible to target specific areas of fat, though it is possible to tone.
  • i only ride the bike cuz thats all i have. lol ive lost 9 in my hopes 7 in my stomach.
