Meal Replacements

  • Ok so I work evenings so I cant really eat real food for dinner most nights. I really hate the thought of eating a protein bar every night and some are so bad for you. I prefer to eat whole foods. Is there any suggestions on a good meal replacement I can eat quick at work. I don't want to come home and eat at 11 at night either. sorry that is so randomly written.
  • Do you have a microwave at work? Some days I make a big healthy stirfry for dinner, and save the other half for lunch at work the next day. Stir fry microwaves great! I make mine with brown rice, veggies, pineapple, some sauce. I'm going to add tofu too but my local store doesn't carry it, so I'll need to pick some up elsewhere!
  • Why can't you eat "real food" at work? If you have to chew it anyway, does it matter if it's a sandwich or a pre-packaged bar?

I guess I'm confused about the question. Are you on your feet, unable to take a break, no cold storage/way to heat things? I don't mind the same thing over and over so I often go with lean turkey lunch meat on wheat bread and an apple. Quick, easy and on plan.
  • I agree with mortonpixie, a simple quick meal of a sensible sandwich and fruit makes a great choice. As for protein bars, I find that some Atkins bars are a good choice and I can get them in bulk at Sam's. If I am really pressed for time and am on the go, I sometimes eat a ready-to-drink shake (i.e. Muscle Milk Light) and an Atkins bar as my meal. Neither require refrigeration and both are fairly low on calories and meet my needs for low carbs / low sugar (as a diabetic). I hope you find a meal that fits into your work schedule.
  • Thanks for the suggestions. I work in a restaurant so I can't bring food with me we cant store outside food there. We don't have any health options. I don't have time to take a break, ever. I guess I will just have to go with the protein bar or eat really late and I don't want to.

Sorry I wasn't more clear in my original post.
