Prevent loose skin?

So I just read the above article. What does everyone think?

    It say..
"Periodically replenishing depleted lean body mass with controlled, small increases in your calorie intake is how you avoid an overall net loss of muscle during or after dieting."

Makes sense? But how would I go about doing that? Eat a little extra protein on the days I work out? It seems like the guy keeps trying to plug a book so I'm not sure if this is true or just him selling a book! lol
  • That page is just funny... You should ask Meg who had a very low body fat percentage/high muscle mass at the time she had major skin removal surgery.

The guy is also basically saying fill up the loose skin with muscle. Well if you did that, then you'd be as big as you were but muscle instead of fat.
  • I like your logic, Nelie. And your cow.
  • thanks nelie that makes perfect sense...wish i could have figured that out myself! haha maybe i just need to stop obsessing about getting loose skin. everything is flabby now but wouldnt it be better to be smaller and healthier with some flab rather then could die of a heart attack or diabetes with flab.
  • He's been peddling that same ebook for at least seven years. And he's full of baloney. Sure, eating adequate protein when you're lifting weights helps maintain and build your muscle mass. But ... that doesn't have anything to do with whether or not someone has excess skin after weight loss.

His theory is that we won't have excess skin if we get our body fat percentage low enough. Well, mine was 14% when I had my lower body lift and my doctor said he removed "yards of skin".

It makes me angry because he's another example of someone trying to make $$$ by exploiting our fears about excess skin.

Every time we've talked about it here at 3FC, every single member who has lost a lot of weight says that they would choose fit and healthy with some excess skin over having unhealthy fat filling up all that skin. We all have the same amount of skin, fat or thin -- the only difference is whether it's filled up with fat or not. Please don't worry about what your skin will look like now because I promise you that you will love your new body!
  • I kind of figured that one I got to the link about the book. I clicked it and was like oh..i see where he was going.
