  • Hello all! How are y'all? I'm new to 3FC.

Looking at the forums is inspiring. If others can lose 100+ pounds, surely I can lose a measly 50ish, right?

I've been bigger pretty much all my life. I was always the nerdy fat girl in class. Not so much fun, especially in my junior high years. I remember in the fourth grade wearing a size nine jeans.

During my sophomore year of highschool, I gained a lot of weight. At the beginning of my junior year, we had to weigh ourselves in some science class I was taking. I was at 211 pounds.

I began to try to exercise more and improve my diet. Then I joined my school's track team. In a bit less that four months I was down to 165 lbs, and I felt great.

That was almost three years ago and with school, work, and travel my eating and exercising habits have not been anywhere near the same. I'm back up to 198 lbs.

I have recently (two-ish weeks ago) began to better my eating and exercising habits. I've been powerwalking (with a bit of running thrown in) for an hour almost every day. I'm not on any set diet; I'm just trying to eat better.

My goal is 150 lbs. I might want to lose a bit more after that, but we'll see.
  • Welcome Tiffany! I'm glad you've joined us here!
  • Hi Tiffany - great to have another Loosiana Girl here!
Sounds like you're back on track and off to a great start - how smart to make your priority health and not just a diet or a number - I know you'll achieve your goal - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. Try the 20 somethings and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals - 2010 will be our year ,
    Lee

  • I remember in physics back when I was... 16? and we had to weigh ourselves and convert our weights into newtons. Humiliating...

However, enough about me! Welcome! I'm sure you'll find exactly what you need on here.
