Hi all,
I've been able to exercise more vigorously now that my kneecaps aren't sliding all over now that my muscles are picking up the slack. Only problem is I've got a bit of flap belly, kind of like a postpartum slackness except I didn't have childbirth to explain it. It's kind of like the fat is more jellylike because muscles are reconfiguring. And it goes bounce bounce as if I'm jogging without a bra except much lower and then the pain lasts for awhile afterwards.
I haven't been able to find anything with a high enough waist and enough compression that wasn't:
* maternity. Doesn't work with a non-baby-bump.
* too low of a rise so that it didn't cover my butt, let alone my gut. Come on, I know I live in the sticks but waistlines have been slowly rising for the past five or so years, thanks.
* $100 or more bike shorts/running tights that would do an excellent job except I don't need that kind of specialized clothing (i.e. how bike shorts have compression and padding designed for sitting on a bike seat for long distances)
* a girdle of doom with stays and hooks, or a control-top nylon number which would pinch, hamper movement and the material wouldn't be very good for sweating, I'd end up with a rash. (never mind I can't find any of these garments big enough to fit my kegbelly waistline thanks)
Anyone use some kind of "sports bra for the tummy"? I'm open to suggestions. (I'll even go with maternity or post-maternity if it works for pizza dough bellies). This really puts a damper on doing even walking.
I wear longish snug fitting camisoles with built in bras (I am small chested - you could wear a sports bra in addition if you are not). I then tuck them into my workout pants. This keeps the stomach jiggle under control, for me (I have loose skin from weight loss there, and it does have some bounce to it).
Upper body-type compression garments are easier to size, come up plenty high, and if you buy right, can be a breatheable layer to your workout gear that keeps everything in place.
Try spanx...some of there stuff, when fitted correctly works just fine. also someone suggested to me to try tightening your stomach muscles when doing excersizes that focus on that area.
I could have written this cry for help! I have the same problem, clicked the link in hopes of finding a solution but no go. I tried spanx and that did not work, they don't breath well enough for working out, and they roll down the waist like nylons do so its useless unless you like stopping every two minutes to readjust yourself in front of everybody. I hope someone has a solution aside from a tummy tuck which is really the only solution.
How about a unitard? I have seen some rather fluffy dalarenas and dancers so I know larger sizes exist. and because dance is physical, it should be golden to work out in. Yeah, its a little dated, but with the lower half under shorts, who would know?
I really recommend putting down the cash for a good pair of running tights. Thats all that works for me (after 2 kids and obesity I have quite the jiggly pouch) and you can buy them really snug and they'll fit you for a good while even as you lose weight.
