A ? for the calorie counting people!!!!!!!!!

  • this may be a stupid question so forgive me.
how many calories does vitamins have? especially calcium supplements?
  • None worth worrying about, unless it's one of those chewable calcium supps like candy (can't remember the name). If you take one of those, the nutritional info should be on the side of the package. Otherwise, don't worry about those calories. Like coffee, it's minimal and you'll drive yourself crazy trying to be that precise!
  • I googled it, and here's what WikiAnswers came up with:

Vitamins and minerals do not supply any calories.
Vitamins are organic compounds but they are not metabolised (broken down) as a source of energy.

Minerals are simple, inorganic substances which do not supply any energy to the body.

  • thank you all
thank you all for taking the time to answer this.
  • Unless you're taking a huge amount of different vitamins every day, I wouldn't worry about it. But, to answer your question, my Calcium +D has 15 calories per serving (2 pills). Not worth counting, imo. I don't take a multi, but DH's multi has no calories, per the bottle.
  • Gonna Be Thin Again
i heard calcium helps with weight loss, is that right?
  • There were some studies that showed that dairy products (not calcium supps) helped with weight loss, specifically belly fat. But then there were studies that didn't show any link, so I think the jury is still out of this issue. Several servings of low fat dairy products (Greek yogurt is my fave because it's loaded with protein) can be a healthy addition to your food plan, regardless of its effect on weight loss.
