I am a 290lb Cardiac Nurse. Of all the people in the world, I should know how my weight is affecting my body. My real problem is motivation. I always thought that if I got depressed enough I would be able to do something to change my weight. I guess I haven't been that depressed!!!! Nothing seems to inspire me to lose. It's like I am stuck in a funk. Help me get motivated!!!!!
I'd love to help in any way possible! what kind of motivation can i help with! let me know! This year is going to be the year of change! A new decade, a new month, and a new year! we can do this!!
Hi, I know you replied to another person's need for a weight loss buddy, but I too am looking for someone to help me shake off the last 15 lbs until i reach my desire goal weight. I feel like I have reached a plateau and I have been struggling with the last 15.
Hi NewMe!
As those of us who have battled depression and our weight can attest, it is a vicious cycle - I've found that small changes a step at a time will bring results and confidence without overwhelming you - no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to help get you through.
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. So many others have been (or are) where you are now and can offer support and advice for the inevitable ups and downs.
There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.
I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up. It has made the difference for me in my success so far.
So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
This sounds like my story. I have been on every diet known to man, lost the weight and put it all back on again!
Now I'm changing my life style and eating style under the care of my doctor and dietician. I gained 5lbs over Christmas, last year I'd have been in the depths of depression and feeling a huge failure. This year its a case of 'So what?' I'll lose it and more some. My motivation is creaking joints!! I too am a (now retired) nurse. I should have known better as well
