pudding powder calories

  • Hi all! Newbie here...with a question. I make a shake with 1 cup skim milk, 2 tbsp. sf/ff pudding powder, and crushed ice. I got the recipe off of a weight watchers board I used to frequent. Now, I know that the skim milk is 90 cals. for one cup, but the package of pudding just says 1/4 the package is 35 cals. How in the world do I calculate the calories for just the two tablespoons?? If anyone could help me, that would be wonderful! TIA!
  • There's a couple ways you can do this.

One, count all the tablespoons in one packet of pudding and divide the total calories by that number of tablespoons. The total calories in this pudding is 4X the calories in 1/4 the packet.

Or, and this is really a variation on the previous method, weigh the packet before and after you take the 2 tablespoons, and find out what fraction of the packet it was. Use grams. Foods like pudding generally say the weight in both ounces and grams.
  • Thank you, thank you! Makes sense. I will try that today. Count out the number of tablespoons and divide that by 140 since that is the amt of calories in the whole packet of powder. You're a lifesaver!
